Capital One Transfer Partners
For the longest time Capital One cards were cash back cards cosplaying as a miles and points card. They called their card earnings miles, but they could only be used to erase travel purchases. You couldn't transfer them anywhere because Capital One had no travel partners to turn your points into miles with. That all changed a few years back when Capital One transfer partners became a thing. It immediately made Capital One miles more valuable, and in turn something people paid more attention to. That was true even if their partners were mostly run of the mill, and not as unique as some other banks. That changed a bit today though, with some new transfer partners joining the Capital One family.

ToggleHow To Earn Capital One Miles
Before we get into the transfer partners that are available to Capital One cardholders, we should discuss how you can earn Capital One miles. Here are the cards that earn transferrable currency with Capital One:
- Personal Cards
- Venture Rewards (2x on everything card)
- Venture X (2x on everything premium perks card)
- Capital One Venture One (no fee, 1.25x earning card)
- Business Cards
- Venture X Business (2x on everything premium perks business card)
- Spark Miles For Business (no frills 2x earning business card)
- Spark Miles Select For Business (no fee, 1.5x earning business card)
I should note that if you carry one of these cards you can also turn the cash back earned on other Capital One cards, like the Spark Cash card, into transferrable miles. Here is our full guide on how to do just that. It should also be noted that only the Venture X Business, from the list above, does not count against Chase 5/24. Most of the Capital One business cards work a bit differently when it comes to Chase 5/24. If you are interested in learning more on that then check out our full guide on which business cards count against 5/24 and which don't.

If you are keeping track at home then you would see that Capital One now has 22 transfer partners. It is pretty awesome how far they have come since launching the transfer partner program. It is always worth checking out our ToP Partner Transfer Tool and transfer bonus page to see if the current transfer rates are a little higher. Capital One has been known to have transfer bonuses here and there after all.
I should also note that the Avios programs are kind of like a family of airlines. Because of that it may be possible to transfer from one airline program to another. It isn't a completely open system, but luckily we have a guide breaking down all of that for you.
Unique Transfer Partners
One way I like to value a program is by how many unique partners they have. This used to be a lot more important before Bilt Rewards came in and started gobbling up unique partners from other banks right and left. In an interesting turnabout, Capital One kind of pulled a Bilt Rewards on Bilt by adding Japan Airlines. JAL was not a partner of any of the major currencies just a few months ago. Now they are partners with Bilt and Capital One. Here are some of the partners that Capital One has that are limited in who else has them:
- Japan Airlines
- I Prefer (although at half the rate of Citi ThankYou points)
- This program leaves a lot to be desired though. You might be better off going the Choice route to book the same hotel.
- Wyndham Rewards
- EVA Air
- Finnair
- TAP Portugal
You can see why this Japan Airlines addition is such a big deal. It really adds something to the Capital One transfer partners portfolio that is pretty unique. The rest of their more rare partners are not overly exciting for most. Because of that Capital One miles can be a good use for those partners that everyone has, like Virgin. Using your Capital One miles allows you to save other currencies for the more unique partners they have.
How To Best Use Your Capital One Miles: ToP Thoughts
We preach in the ToP Facebook Group every day that transferring your points leads to more value. That rings even more true with Capital One miles after these recent additions. They continue to add transfer partners, which will only continue to increase their value over time. You always have the travel eraser perk should you need it too. Be sure to run the proper calculations to ensure that you are getting over 1 cent per point before transferring to a travel partner. If not, then the eraser perk may be the better option for that particular booking. Share your thoughts on Capital One miles over in the ToP Facebook Group.
