InterContinental Lisbon The Edit Booking

I am fresh off a stay at the InterContinental Lisbon—and will be thinking for a while about how well my family was treated. It was all because we booked via Chase's The Edit premium booking program, and our reservation came with a ton of perks. Think: welcome drinks, a welcome amenity, complimentary breakfast for three people, a $100 property credit, late checkout and more. Best of all: We only paid $10 out-of-pocket for our two-night reservation because we booked with one of our Chase Sapphire Reserve cards. Here's a recap of my InterContinental Lisbon The Edit booking.

How We Booked

Armed with my P2's Chase Sapphire Reserve card, we searched for a good stack for our summer trip to Europe. We needed to use up not just his Edit credits, but his select hotels credit. The latter is a one-time credit for 2026 worth up to a $250 statement credit for select Chase Travel hotel bookings. It applies to select properties from brands like IHG Hotels & Resorts, Virgin Hotels, Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts, Montage Hotels & Resorts, Pendry Hotels & Resorts, Omni Hotels & Resorts and Minor Hotels. We were hoping to use up this credit plus one $250 The Edit credit on the same stay, so we made sure to look for a “The Editbanner plus a marker noting “Eligible for $250 select hotel credit.”

I had been eyeing several IHG properties for our summer trip to Europe, constantly adding and removing them from my cart to compare prices. Because I was searching for rooms that allowed an occupancy of 3 people, this heightened pricing and limited our options a bit. I finally found the InterContinental Lisbon, a 5-star hotel that we could book using both credits and ToP it off with points. Bingo! The cash cost would have been $989.35, but here's how our final InterContinental Lisbon The Edit booking panned out:

Currency AppliedCost
The Edit credit$250
Chase Travel 2026 Select Hotels Credit$250
Chase Ultimate Rewards29,000 points
Total Out-of-Pocket Cost$10.85

Our VIP Treatment

Our special treatment started about a week before check-in, when the hotel emailed us an early greeting ahead of our stay. They noted my P2's IHG Platinum status and asked if we would prefer to collect IHG One Rewards welcome points or a welcome drink at the bar. In addition to that, we enjoyed the perks that were built in from our Chase The Edit booking, which were as follows:

Welcome Amenity

Settling into our room, we found chocolates and a bottle of Tawny Port, also from the Douro Valley region. We enjoyed glasses of wine in our room on the second night and thought the port was lovely.

$100 Property Credit

The Chase Edit $100 property credit can be used on eligible dining, spa treatments or other activities. We decided to use this for a nice dinner at Akla Restaurant, the hotel's fine-dining eatery. The interior is outfitted in Portuguese tiles and white tablecloths, and the menu specializes in Portuguese fare. We ordered two appetizers and three entrees. The food was great, and the service was excellent. Accounting for the conversion to Euros, our out-of-pocket cost for the meal came to about $60.

Daily Breakfast for Two

This amenity turned out to be daily breakfast for three for our lucky group. This can vary by property, but we were told at check-in that the complimentary breakfast would be honored for all three members of our party. The buffet breakfast was served at the Eduardo VII Room from 6:30-10:30 a.m. daily. It included coffee, tea, juice and a mimosa station, plus an assortment of eggs, bacon, sausages, Viennese pastries, cheeses, fruits, pancakes, yogurt and granola. Made-to-order omelettes were available upon request.

IHG Platinum Gift

Chase Sapphire Reserve cardmembers receive complimentary IHG One Rewards Platinum Elite status through 12/31/27 (after benefit enrollment). We opted for the welcome drink. (Incidentally, we were actually also credited 600 welcome points later, too.) P2 and I redeemed our welcome drink on our first night inside the gorgeous and vibe-y Uptown Bar. We were each allowed to choose from beers or wines from the menu, and we went for two Portuguese reds from the Douro Valley wine region.

Early Check-in + Late Check-out

We arrived in the early evening and did not need to use early check-in. But we were very grateful to be granted an automatic 4 p.m. checkout. We had an evening flight out of Lisbon, so we used every last minute of that late checkout. At about 3:57 p.m., we heard a knock at the door. I totally thought it was going to be a staff member kicking us out. It was a hotel team member, but they were actually bringing us an evening gift! They gave us a perfectly composed plate of fresh pastéis de nata, the famous Portuguese tart. Biting into the flaky, custard-filled pastry felt like the perfect adeus to Lisbon.

InterContinental Lisbon The Edit Booking: ToP Thoughts

I am so glad we went for the InterContinental Lisbon The Edit booking. The hotel has an upscale, contemporary aesthetic with plenty of Portuguese character. The downtown location was a quick walk or cheap Bolt ride from all the sightseeing we did. Most importantly, we felt truly pampered by the complimentary drinks, desserts and other perks. We also saved a lot of money by eating so many meals on property. Have you stacked these Chase Edit and select hotels credits yet? What perks did you enjoy? Tell us over in the ToP Facebook Group.
