What Works for Direct Deposits?

The Chase checking account bonus requires an electronic deposit of your paycheck, pension or government benefits, such as Social Security, directly from your employer or the government. The following deposit types are excluded: transfers from external bank accounts, transfers from brokerage or investment accounts, Zelle and other person-to-person payments, mobile check deposits or checks deposited at a branch, micro-deposits used to verify bank accounts, tax refunds, dividends and retirement distributions, wire transfers, debit card transactions and other direct payments.

Of course, we know that not everyone can easily change their direct deposit choice. Doctor of Credit is a good resource for tracking data points on what does and doesn’t work. Just know that there are no guarantees, and YMMV.

Chase Checking Account Bonus: ToP Thoughts

The Chase checking account bonus is the best of the personal checking account offers we’ve seen recently from any of the big banks. If you can manage the $10,000 in qualifying direct deposits within 90 days, this is a stellar offer. Even if you can’t reach the highest tier, the $425 and $600 bonuses could still be worth it. If the direct deposit amounts are tougher for you, the Chase combo checking-savings $900 offer just got extended and is a great option, too. Remember that you will need to pay taxes on these offers since they are considered interest income. Let us know in the ToP Facebook Group if you grab this bonus.
