ToP Analysis
The Capital One Venture Business card is as straightforward as they come in terms of earning points. You earn 2X on every purchase with no cap. The Venture Business card gives you access to Capital One's many transfer partners for you to maximize the value of your miles.
What we don't yet know is if this business card will affect 5/24. This card replaces the Spark Miles for Business card, which DID affect 5/24. However, as the Venture Business card is brand new, we have no data points either way. If we had to guess, it will count, since it is a credit card (as opposed to a charge card with no preset spending limit).
The card's limited-time welcome offer is really good at 10X return on spend, plus the extra 2X earnings on all spend, for a total of 12X earnings up to the $7,500 required spend. If you choose to spend up to the 2nd tier (i.e. another 75,000 miles for a total of $30,000 in spend), you end up with 210,000 miles for $30K spend, or a total of 7X. That is certainly not for everyone, but for high spend businesses, it is a great return.
Benefits aren't the card's strong suit. The credit towards Global Entry or TSA PreCheck is nice, but plenty of other cards offer this same perk. The $50 travel portal credit is likely easy to use, but always be aware of higher prices in the portal. Additionally, booking travel through a portal comes with plenty of possible issues. The advertising/software statement credits are also super easy, assuming your business has such spend.
If you're a business owner looking for a card to set it and forget for all your business purchases, you could do a lot worse than the Capital One Venture Business card. Earning unlimited 2X on everything across the board makes this a potential keeper for those looking for simplicity. Sure, there are other cards with no annual fee that earn 2X on everything like the Blue Business® Plus Credit Card from American Express, but that card has a cap on $50,000 and charges a foreign transaction fee.
Capital One Venture Business Review: ToP Thoughts
The Capital One Venture Business card is a straightforward 2X on everything business card. The card's simple earning structure offers a greater return with virtually zero effort. The $95 annual fee is a small price to pay for simplicity and access to Capital One's transfer partners.
