Earning Structure
The Hawaiian Airlines Bank of Hawaii World Elite Mastercard‘s earning structure offers an opportunity to earn triple points on direct purchases within the Atmos ecosystem, as well as double points on some key everyday spend categories:
- 3x points on eligible Hawaiian Airlines and Alaska Airlines purchases
- 2x points on:
- Gas
- Dining
- Eligible grocery store purchases
- 1x points on all other purchases
Card Benefits
The Hawaiian Airlines Bank of Hawaii World Elite Mastercard includes a short-but-useful list of perks for cardmembers, including:
- Two free checked bags: Available for the primary cardmember on tickets booked directly from Hawaiian Airlines and Alaska Airlines. You must use your card to purchase the tickets.
- One-time 50% companion discount for:

- Annual $100 companion discount (after each account anniversary) for:

ToP Analysis
If you fly on Hawaiian Airlines or Alaska Airlines with any sort of regularity, you can pretty quickly offset the Hawaiian Airlines Bank of Hawaii World Elite Mastercard‘s annual fee with the perks. And its newly increased welcome offer is a rare opportunity to earn a stash of Atmos Rewards for a lower spend requirement. You can meet the second tier of the spend for a total of $2,000 in a 180-period. That's an excellent return, representing 35x on your spend. The welcome offer for this card was previously 60,000 points.
Atmos Rewards, the recently combined loyalty program for Hawaiian Airlines and Alaska Airlines, offers points that are super useful for much more than flights to Hawaii and Alaska. They can be redeemed for stellar value for everything from business class flights on Starlux Airlines to cheap shorthaul fights via American Airlines. Atmos points can also be tougher to come by because they aren't a transfer partner with the big three banks. You can earn them with a Bilt credit card and/or through the Bilt Rewards program, which is free to join and is also a cashout option for Rakuten.
Which Cards to Consider
You can apply for the Bank of Hawaii credit card via Barclays, despite some question last year whether the Hawaiian Airlines cards would stick around. In terms of Atmos co-branded cards, how does the Hawaiian Airlines Bank of Hawaii World Elite Mastercard stack up against the Alaska Airlines earners that are issued by Bank of America? The premium Atmos Rewards Summit Visa card typically comes with a larger welcome offer and a heftier lists of perks, which can help offset the higher $395 annual fee. The Atmos™ Rewards Ascent Visa Signature® card is the card to directly compare the Hawaiian Airlines Bank of Hawaii World Elite Mastercard to, as it has a $95 annual fee. It has some similar perks as well as some that are slightly different, including an annual $99 companion fare, a free checked bag and preferred boarding for you and up to 6 guests traveling on the same reservation, a 10% rewards bonus on all points earned from card purchases if you have an eligible Bank of America account and more. It also often has a bigger welcome offer, but it typically also comes with a larger spend requirement.
If you are under 5/24 and eligible for business cards, the card to look at is Atmos™ Rewards Visa Signature® Business Card, which typically has a higher offer and won't impact your 5/24 count. Just note that Bank of America can be a tougher approval. Hawaiian Airlines itself also has a co-branded business card to consider: the Hawaiian Airlines® World Elite Business Mastercard®, which typically has a welcome offer that hovers around 50,000 points after completing spend requirements.

The Hawaiian Airlines Bank of Hawaii World Elite Mastercard‘s new offer is a nice opportunity to earn a large stash of Atmos Rewards. These are useful points to have on hand, whether you regularly fly Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines or want them for booking through partners like American Airlines. Several members of the ToP team recently scored Starlux business class seats to Asia from 75,000 Atmos points, thanks to a Thrifty Traveler alert.
