ToggleThe Capital One miles you earn with these cards are some of the most flexible to use for travel. Between Capital One's solid list of transfer partners and the ability to use miles to cover the cost of travel purchases, Capital One miles make plenty of incredible redemptions options possible. We'll show you how to use Capital One miles to fly in a premium cabin, book international flights for you and a partner, fly whole family for cheap or offset the cost of a luxury stay.
Earning 75K Capital One Miles
Currently, the Capital One Venture Rewards card has a welcome offer where you can earn 75,000 Capital One miles after spending $4,000 on purchases within the first three months of opening the card ($95 annual fee). Plus, you'll get a one-time $250 credit to use on flights, hotels or rental cars booked through Capital One Travel. But after hitting that minimum spending requirement, you'll actually come away with at least 83,000 Capital One miles since the Venture card earns at least 2X miles on every purchase.
The Capital One Venture X Rewards card has a similar welcome offer where you can earn 75,000 Capital One miles after spending $4,000 on purchases within the first three months of opening the card ($395 annual fee). The Venture X also earns at least 2X miles on every purchase.
Capital One also makes it easy to combine miles with another traveler. So you can earn even more miles with your spouse or significant other—or easily get miles from someone else not in your household if you're shy of a redemption.
Remember, Capital One regularly offers transfer bonuses, ranging from 20-40% bonus points. These bonuses can make your 75K Capital One miles stretch even further. You can track all current bonuses, as well as anticipated transfer times on the ToP Partner Transfer Tool on the website
A Trip For Two To Europe

Capital One transfer partners like Air Canada, Air France/KLM, British Airways, Finnair, Virgin Atlantic and others offer several ways to book economy flights to Europe for not many points at all. With 75,000 Capital One miles in your account, you'd have enough points to book roundtrip tickets to Europe and back for two people—or more. These are a few of the ways to do it.
Transfer your Capital One miles to British Airways to book nonstop flights from the U.S. to Europe for as few as 13,000 Avios each way or 26,000 Avios roundtrip, plus taxes and fees. You may be able to connect onward to other cities in Europe for just a few thousand Avios more. The cheapest rates are for off-peak dates. Expect to spend more points if you're planning a trip during a peak travel season like summer.

Air France/KLM Flying Blue Promo Rewards are another great option. Each month, Air France and KLM's joint loyalty program, Flying Blue, puts select routes on sale for up to 50% off. It's the best time to score a great deal using miles. Right now, for example, you can book flights from Los Angeles (LAX) to many European cities for as low as 18,750 miles each way or 37,500 miles roundtrip, plus taxes and fees.

Thanks to Virgin Atlantic's dynamic pricing model, flights between the U.S. and London (LHR) can be booked for as few as 12,000 points roundtrip from the East Coast, and 18,000 from the West Coast. Keep in Virgin Atlantic does charge higher taxes and fees than many other programs, but there are fewer cheaper ways to cross the pond with points.

Capital One technically partners with Virgin Red, the all-encompassing loyalty program for Virgin brands including Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Hotels, Virgin Voyages and more. So in addition to needing a Virgin Atlantic Flying Club account, you'll also need to sign up for a Virgin Red account before transferring any Capital One miles.
Fly To Europe In Business Class
With at least 75,000 Capital One miles, you've got more than enough to buy yourself a little luxury on your next trip to Europe. Air Canada Aeroplan is a great, easy-to-use program for booking business class flights on Star Alliance airlines like EVA Air, Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines, SWISS Air, TAP Air Portugal, United and more. Most business class flights to Europe are just 60,000 to 70,000 Aeroplan points each way. Take this Washington, D.C. (IAD) to Munich (MUC) flight in Lufthansa business class, for example.

British Airways also offers some solid business class award rates on partner airlines Iberia and Aer Lingus. You can book Iberia business class through British Airways for as few as 40,500 Avios each way during off-peak dates, plus taxes and fees. That covers flights from cities like Boston (BOS), New York (JFK) and Washington, D.C. (IAD). It remains one of the cheapest ways to fly to Europe in business class. Peak rates are 59,000 Avios each way.
BA charges just 50,000 Avios each way for Aer Lingus business class flights on off-peak dates, and 60,000 for peak travel times like summer and holidays. It may not be the fanciest, but Aer Lingus business class has everything you'd want from a premium seat: Lie-flat seats, great food and drink options and some of the most friendly and memorable staff I've had on a flight. Tip: Book one of the “throne” seats, if you can, for the best experience.

Roundtrip Domestic Flights For The Whole Family
Capital One doesn't partner with any of the three major U.S. airlines. But there are still plenty of ways to use your Capital One miles to book domestic flights. And at these rates, 75,000 miles is plenty to book roundtrip domestic flights for the entire family.
For Delta routes, look to SkyTeam alliance airlines Air France/KLM Flying Blue and Virgin Atlantic. Flying Blue prices its flights dynamically, but you can book short Delta flights for as few as 10,000 miles roundtrip. Longer routes will cost slightly more. Use this trick to find the cheapest rates.

Virgin Atlantic charges anywhere from 15,000 to 44,000 points roundtrip for Delta flights, depending on the distance of the flight.
You can book United flights via Air Canada Aeroplan since both airlines are members of the Star Alliance. Nonstop United flights start at 6,000 Aeroplan points each way, or 12,000 points roundtrip, plus taxes and fees. The longer the flight, the more points it will cost, like this flight from Minneapolis (MSP) to Chicago (ORD) for 10,000 points.

Qatar Airways can be a great option for booking Oneworld alliance partners American Airlines and Alaska Airlines. Nonstop, short-haul flights like this one from Chicago to Washington, D.C. (DCA) are just 9,500 Avios each way.

Best Ways To Use 75K Capital One Miles: To/From Japan In Business Class
Capital One recently added a new transfer partner, and it's easily one of the most exciting: Japan Airlines. It's only the third major program, after Bilt and Rove Miles, that's a transfer partner with JAL. Capital One miles don't transfer to JAL at a 1:1 ratio. Instead, every 1,000 Capital One miles you transfer, you'll get 750 JAL Mileage Bank miles. It's a poor transfer rate, but there are few better ways to book business class flights to Japan on one of the world's best airlines.
JAL can be stingy with partner award space for its business (and first) class seats. The airline offers cheaper rates and better business class award availability through its own Mileage Bank program. JAL charges just 55,000 miles each way, plus taxes and fees, for business class flights between the U.S. and Japan. That means you'd need to transfer 73,500 Capital One miles to JAL to book this Tokyo (NRT) to Chicago (ORD) flight.

Japan Airlines business class seats are lie-flat and come with multi-course meals, unlimited food and drinks and top-notch service. I recently flew JAL business class home from my two-week honeymoon in Japan and can confirm it was worth every mile spent.

Note that you'll be on the hook for some hefty taxes and fees. But compared to the cash price of these flights, you're likely still coming out ahead.
Cover Lodging On Your Next Trip (Hotels, Airbnb, VRBO, Rentals, Etc.)
Lodging can be one of the most expensive parts of any trip. But with Capital One, there's a straightforward way to use your miles to offset your lodging costs—whether you're booking a hotel, Airbnb, VRBO or other vacation rental.
Capital One gives you the option to cover any travel purchase with miles. Any transaction within the last 90 days that codes as “travel” is eligible to be covered with miles. You can redeem as many or as few miles as you want. Each mile is worth 1 cent when redeeming this way, so 75,000 miles are worth a flat $750. In this case, I'm redeeming 75,000 miles for $750 back on recent nearly $1,400 Marriott stay.

Sure, you may not be getting the absolute maximum value from your miles. But redeeming your miles this way can allow you to splurge on a fancy stay, if you want to. Or it can make expensive lodging options for a big event like a concert or festival a little more palatable. It's also one of the only workarounds to book an Airbnb or VRBO with points. Plus, you'll get all the benefits of booking direct, which we always recommend.
