3X Miles For Rent Payments

Over time, Bilt has been rolling out another way to rack up points on rent payments. Rather than paying your rent with a Bilt card, you can pay your rent with a select co-branded airline credit cards to earn miles. Previously, Bilt established partnerships with United Airlines, Alaska Airlines, and Flying Blue. But as of August 5, 2026, you can now earn miles with Qatar Airways Privilege Club credit cards. This makes a total of four airline partnerships with Bilt to earn up to 3x miles for rent payments. As with everything in the points & miles space, you should evaluate if it is worth it for you before diving in.

Comparing the Co-Branded Card Partnerships

Each partnership that earns up to 3X miles for rent payments has a slightly different earning structure, but all of them have a step-down in earnings after $50,000 spent on rent per year:

  • Alaska Airlines: Earn 3X Atmos miles per $1 spent on rent via Bilt, with a 3% transaction fee. The 3X earnings have a $50,000 annual cap, with 1X earnings afterward. See eligible cards and details here.
  • Flying Blue: Earn 3X Flying Blue Miles per $1 spent on rent via Bilt, with a 3% transaction fee. The 3X earnings have a $50,000 annual cap, with 1.5X earnings afterward. See eligible cards and details here.
  • United Airlines: Earn 2X United MileagePlus miles for $1 spent on rent via Bilt, with a 3% transaction fee. The 2X earnings are capped at $50,000 per year, with 1X earnings afterward. See eligible cards and details here.
  • Qatar Airways: Earn 3X Avios per $1 spent on rent via Bilt, with a 3% transaction fee. The 3X earnings have a $50,000 annual cap, with 1X earnings afterward. See eligible cards and details here.

The transaction fee of 3% is uniform across all partnerships as well.

How to Earn Miles for Rent Payments

In order to earn up to 3X miles for rent payments, you must have a co-branded credit card with one of the participating airline programs.

Paying rent and earning points with these partnerships is very straightforward:

  1. Login to your account at Bilt.com or on the Bilt app.
  2. Fill in your airline co-branded credit card information as a payment method, and then select it as your rent payment method.
  3. Pay rent through Bilt as you normally would.
  4. You'll earn up to 3X miles per $1 spent, depending on the airline, up to the annual cap. They should post automatically.
  5. Once a cardmember has reached the annual cap, they can continue to earn up to 1.5 miles per $1, depending on the airline, on continued on-time payments.

Is It Worth It to Use an Airline Co-branded Card to Pay Rent?

Short answer: probably not. With the exception of the United co-branded credit cards, all of the airline cards that offer this benefit are cards we recommend only once you are over 5/24. Also, cardholders are also essentially exchanging the 3% fee for the 2X or 3X earnings. These partnerships do not presently offer earnings for mortgage payments, only for rent. And Bilt credit card holders likely prefer to continue earning transferable currency for their rent payments instead, by redeeming Bilt Cash that they earn automatically with their card. Plus, Bilt credit card holders are giving up the opportunity to earn 1X Bilt Rewards with no out-of-pocket cost, in addition to the fees associated with earning co-branded airline miles.

Bilt members also have other ways to access miles with these programs. Bilt Rewards themselves can, of course, be transferred to all four airlines at a 1:1 ratio, and periodically better ratios with Bilt's Rent Day promotions.

Other factors to consider when deciding whether to pursue this route include the annual fee for the underlying card, the redemption value for the points that you earn, and how often you are redeeming miles with these programs. Also keep in mind that devaluations can occur at any time, so earning one particular airline's miles may not be the most effective earning strategy.

Earn up to 3X Miles For Rent Payments: ToP Thoughts

Our philosophy is that it's always good to see more earning options, though this one is only accessible to renters. Airline co-branded cardholders of these eligible programs should run the math on the 3% fee to see if this partnership makes sense for their monthly rent expense.
