Opt-Out of Bilt Updates

Earlier this week Bilt announced major changes coming to its rewards program in 2027. If you’ve been paying attention for any length of time, you know that change is the only constant with Bilt. Our initial assessment is that these changes are not good for existing cardholders. For that reason, most people will want to retain the current Flexible Bilt Cash earning structure instead of switching automatically to the new Updated card rewards program. In this article, we’ll show you how to make the selection to opt out of these Bilt updates and keep Flexible Bilt Cash going forward.

Step-By-Step Process

As with almost everything related to Bilt, the easiest way to opt-out of these Bilt updates is found within the app. First, navigate to the wallet tab.

On that screen, scroll below the current balance information. Find the box with the gear icon that says “Manage card.”

After clicking on the “Manage card” button, scroll to the bottom of that list to “Bonus Rewards” in the “Rewards” category. It should be the very last thing listed on that page.

Click on “Bonus Rewards” and a “Card rewards” screen appears showing what’s happening to your rewards in 2027. To opt-out of the Bilt updates, you’ll change it on this screen. Since I have already selected to keep Flexible Bilt Cash for my Palladium Card that I opened at product launch, my screen states “You’re keeping Flexible Bilt Cash”.

To change this selection, click on the arrow next to the “Keeping” section.

Changing Your Mind

If you’re not sure whether or not you want to opt-out of these Bilt updates, don’t worry. You can opt-out now and then switch later. Or opt-out later, but don’t forget to do so before the changes take effect on January 1, 2027. If you opt-out now, you will have the ability to switch back and forth between now and your card anniversary, but not after that. So choose wisely.

Opt-Out of Bilt Updates: ToP Thoughts

The process for opting out is relatively straightforward and preserves the current earning structure for the time being. It is the safest way for existing cardholders to protect their Bilt Cash earning potential into the future. Opting out now does not have to be a permanent decision, but the ability to switch back and forth between the new and old systems won’t be around forever.
