How to Use 80K Chase Ultimate Rewards

It's no secret that we are huge fans of Ultimate Rewards here at Travel on Point(s). Whenever there's an elevated welcome offer for Chase's Ultimate Rewards earning cards, we share some awesome ways to redeem those points. So with the latest elevated offer for the Chase Sapphire Preferred of 80,000 Ultimate Rewards after spending $4,000 in the first 3 months ending soon, we figured it was time to share some ideas on how to use 80K Chase URs. As always, the key to maximizing your Ultimate Rewards is taking advantage of Chase's many transfer partners, and that's exactly what we do here.

Since you also earn points on the purchases made to meet the minimum spend, you will actually end up with at least 84,000 URs. You'll likely end up with a bit more since the Chase Sapphire Preferred earns bonus points on multiple categories, like travel and dining.

Business Class to Europe on Air France or KLM

Air France/KLM's Flying Blue loyalty program is one of our favorite ways to fly across the pond in business class. Air France and KLM fly to lots of US cities and tend to offer more business class availability than some other airlines. Flying Blue also charges reasonable award prices for these flights, typically between 51,000 and 70,000 miles for one-way in business class.

Taking advantage of a transfer bonus (like the current 25% bonus) can make the flight even cheaper. And on top of these transfer bonuses, Flying Blue has monthly promo rewards that can include even lower award prices for business class flights between the US and Europe. Combining promo rewards with transfer bonuses lets you fly to Europe for dirt cheap!

Four Nights at a Category B Hyatt All-Inclusive Resort

How do 4 nights at a tropical paradise without having to plan any meals sound? Hyatt's category B all-inclusive resorts cost 20,000 points per night at standard rates, 17,000 for off-peak nights, and 23,000 for peak nights. With Hyatt as a Chase transfer partner, you can transfer your Ultimate Rewards to the World of Hyatt program and book directly through Hyatt.

You have plenty of options in Mexico and the Caribbean to choose from. You can even use this nifty tool on Hyatt's website to sort through all-inclusive resorts at the category of your choice.

And if you're in 2-player mode, you could have even more points to play with. You would have another 80,000 points from P2's welcome offer plus the referral bonus for referring P2 to their own Chase Sapphire Preferred. With these extra points, you could stay at a higher category resort or spend more nights at a category B property. There's no wrong choice here!

United Airlines Business Class to Southern South America

Flights from the US to southern South America (such as Brazil, Chile, Argentina) can take a lot longer than you'd expect. Depending on your destination, a non-stop flight from the US can take 10 hours or more. Thankfully, you can redeem Ultimate Rewards for business class by transferring to United on these long flights to arrive well-rested at your destination.

United Airlines offers multiple flights to southern South America from its hubs like Newark (EWR), Houston (IAH), and Chicago (ORD). For business class, United charges about 63,000 miles one-way. And United's Polaris business class seats are quite nice (and my personal favorite among the US carriers).

Q Suites To The Middle East & India (Including The Maldives)

For just 70,000 URs, you could fly one-way in Qatar Airways' famous Q Suites from the US to Doha, and for a few more points, you can go even farther in Q Suites. Qatar flies to many US airports, such as JFK, PHL, ATL, MIA, SFO, ORD, and LAX. And American Airlines isn't the only program with a sweet spot for flying Q Suites.

You can book this by transferring your Ultimate Rewards to British Airways, which charges 70,000 for this flight. If you want to continue on from Doha, then transferring your Avios from British Airways to Qatar Airways is the way to go. Qatar charges 75,000 one-way in business class from the US to Middle East destinations like Dubai (DBX) or Muscat (MCT), or 80,000 Avios to Cairo (CAI) or Amman (AMM).

If you want to continue on to the Maldives (MLE) or the Seychelles (SEZ), you do so for a total of 85,000 Ultimate Rewards. This is basically what you end up with after meeting the the Chase Sapphire Preferred minimum spend.

Singapore Airlines Business Class (IAH-MAN)

Did you know you that Singapore Airlines flies a fifth freedom route between Houston (IAH) and Manchester, UK (MAN)? This is just one of the airline's great fifth freedom routes out of the US. You can snag a business class seat on this flight for just 81,000 Singapore KrisFlyer miles, which you can transfer from Chase. This is a great way to experience an excellent business class right from the US!
