Chase Sapphire Preferred Refer A Friend Offer

We have been waiting on this day to come for a few weeks now, ever since we saw the Chase Sapphire Preferred in branch offer jump up to 90K. Well it is finally here, or, it is kind of finally here. The CSP refer a friend offers have been increased, but not all the way to the 90K to match the in branch offers. In typical Chase fashion they fall just a smidge short, which can be a little frustrating. Let's take a look at the Chase Sapphire Preferred Refer A Friend offer details.

Increased Sapphire Preferred Refer A Friend Offer Details

Here are details for the offer:

  • Earn 80,000 bonus points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening
  • $95 annual fee is NOT waived

The referrer gets 15,000 points as well.

How Does This Compare To The 90K In Branch Offer?

If you are in a two party system this refer a friend offer is actually better. You would earn 80,000 from the welcome offer on the new card and then an additional 15,000 points for the referral. The two combined brings the total to 95,000, just past the 90,000 you can get in branch. You also don't have to go to a branch to apply, which is a big win in my book.

If you are referring a friend or family member instead, the numbers look a little different. You would probably want to alert them to the in branch offer and see if they would be willing to go to the bank for the extra 10K in points. Or, you could come up with some other option, like a round about way to share some of your referral points (a hotel booking etc.). You could also give them a “bird dog” fee for the referral. How you handle it is up to you. I am sure some people will say keep the points for helping me etc. and they would prefer not to go into branch anyway etc.

What If You Would Like To Support ToP?

Our affiliate link is still showing the old 60,000 point offer at this time. I wouldn't be surprised to see it updated over the next few days, as our offers sometimes lag behind the referral offer by a few days (or vice versa). My guess is that it will be at the lower 80K point refer a friend level versus matching the 90K in branch offer.

If you have a player 2 referral then go that route 100% and grab it as soon as you want. If you don't have a personal referral, and need to grab the card, then the in branch offer will be the best option for you. This is of course assuming you have a Chase branch easily accessible. If you don't live near a Chase branch, or don't want to apply in person, AND would like to support ToP then you could hold tight for a bit. We should hopefully have a link for you in the very near future.

Chase Sapphire Preferred Refer A Friend Offer: ToP Thoughts

I know many of our ToP members out there have been waiting for this bonus to come to the refer a friend offers. I am glad to see it finally hit accounts, even if it is not quite as high as we had hoped. It is still better than applying in branch if working in a two person system. If you are talking about a friend, or family member outside your household, then things are a little murkier. There are a few ways you can play it though, you just need to think outside the box a bit!

Good luck out there, and if it makes sense for you to wait a bit to see how our links shake out we appreciate the support.
