We are now seeing reports of a 150K Amex Business Platinum retention offer being given out. This retention offer blows my mind even more than the 250K welcome offer. For once a bank is giving out what they do to new customers to retain customers. We figured the first report was a mistake since it sounded too good to be true. We figured the report was likely a new sign up or an upgrade offer etc. A second report has now come in and this offer seems to have got some legs. Let's take a look at the details.
Amex Business Platinum Retention Offer Details
The offer 150K Amex Business Platinum retention offer is as follows:
- Earn 150,000 Membership Rewards after spending $15,000 within the first 3 months
- The $695 annual fee is NOT waived
- Can not close the card for 12 months from the time of accepting the offer (not when the annual fee is charged)

One of the data points mentioned that they called in to cancel the card. Reaching out via Amex Chat should technically give you the same results since the offer should be on your account notes. Remember that retention offers are targeted and you are not guaranteed to get this offer, or a retention offer at all. Don't reach out expecting this, or demanding it.

150K Amex Business Platinum Retention Offer: ToP Thoughts
I am still a bit flabbergasted by this 150K Amex Business Platinum retention offer. I think we have a few coming up for renewal soon and I sure as heck hope to see one of these sent my way. The spend is a bit steep, at $15,000, but that is likely what you needed to spend initially when you signed up for the card. You may even be able to use this offer to pay your taxes if you annual fee just posted. Yes, paying taxes works for Amex!
