Check your Southwest flights. The airline's “Week of Wow” promos are back. For a limited time, the carrier is running several offers for extra savings and earnings on hotels, rental cars and more. But most notably, there is a new Southwest 40% off sale. Grab flights for fall and winter travel from October 5, 2026, to March 3, 2027. Blackout dates apply around the big holidays, but it's a good time to check any existing reservations and consider rebooking if the prices have dropped. Be sure to book by this Thursday, September 17.

Here's what to know about the Southwest 40% off sale:
- Book from Monday, September 14, to Thursday, September 17.
- Eligible for travel on select flights during select days of the week from October 5, 2026, to March 3, 2027.
- Blackout dates apply, particularly around Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s and Presidents' Day. See the full chart below.
- Interisland Hawaii travel is not included.
- Discount is automatically applied (no code needed) before government taxes and fees. Additional fees may apply. It is noted as a strikethrough on the displayed base fare.

Other terms to keep in mind about the Southwest 40% off sale:
- Flights must be booked via Southwest.com, SWABIZ.com or Southwest Partner Services.
- Discount applies to base fare only, before taxes and fees. Award travel remains subject to taxes/fees of at least $5.60 each way. Fares may change until ticketed.
- Valid on new reservations and select flights only.
- Changing an itinerary after booking will forfeit the promotional savings.
- Cannot be combined with other promotions.
- Excludes group travel, Getaways vacation packages, GDS bookings and special fares such as military/government fares.

Southwest 40% Off Sale: ToP Thoughts
Even if I don't have any new travel to book during the travel period, I always like to check on any previously booked flights during these sales. Rebooking flights during these sales has saved me a few thousand points in the past. Note that if you got in on the recent mini Companion Pass promotion, changes made to your qualifying flights may eliminate eligibility. However, those who already have or will have secured the Companion Pass during the travel period can save even more by adding a companion to their itinerary.
