Check your Southwest Airlines flights! There is a new Southwest 40% off sale for both cash and points bookings. Grab flights for fall and winter travel from October 26, 2026, to March 3, 2027, for up to a 40% discount. Blackout dates apply around some upcoming holidays, but it's a good time to check any existing reservations and consider rebooking if the prices have dropped. Be sure to book by this Thursday, October 8. And while it's likely too soon to cash in on the 10,000 points you may have earned from the Southwest Notification Vacation promo, the sale is a good reminder of how low the airline's fares can go during a good sale.

- Save up to 40% on qualifying one-way or round-trip fares.
- Discount applies to select flights and base fares only.
- No code needed. Discount is automatically reflected in eligible fares, shown as a strikethrough on the displayed base fare.
- Book from October 5–8, 2026. The sale ends at 11:59 p.m. PT on October 8.
- Travel from October 26, 2026, to March 3, 2027.

Other Sale Terms
Other terms to keep in mind about the Southwest 40% off sale:
- Flights must be booked via Southwest.com, SWABIZ.com or Southwest Partner Services.
- Discount applies to base fare only, before taxes and fees. Award travel remains subject to taxes/fees of at least $5.60 each way. Fares may change until ticketed.
- Valid on new reservations and select flights only, while promotional availability lasts. Seats, travel dates and eligible markets are limited.
- Changing an itinerary after booking will forfeit the promotional savings.
- Cannot be combined with other promotions, special offers or fares.
- Exclusions: Gift cards, group travel, Getaways by Southwest vacation packages, Global Distribution Systems, or special fares such as military/government fares.
Southwest 40% Off Sale: ToP Thoughts
Even if I don't have any new travel to book during the travel period, I always like to check on any previously booked flights during sales. Canceling and rebooking has saved me a few thousand points in the past. When hunting for new flights, check the blackout periods and let the eligible days of the week guide your searches. You don't need to enter a promo code for this sale. Spot discounted fares by simply looking for a strikethrough on the displayed base fare. Note that if you got in on the recent mini Companion Pass promotion, changes made to your qualifying flights may eliminate eligibility. However, those who already have or will have secured the Companion Pass during the travel period can save even more by adding a companion to their itinerary.
