New ChatGPT Credit On Amex Cards
There's a new way to save on ChatGPT if you hold select business cards. Earlier this month, new ChatGPT credits rolled out on both the American Express Business Gold Card and the Business Platinum Card. The cardholder benefit covers up to $300 in purchases of ChatGPT Business plans per calendar year. ChatGPT Business accounts require a minimum of two users, so cardholders will want to factor in that pricing when considering which plan to purchase. Let's take a look at the terms and cost breakdown for the new ChatGPT credit on Amex cards.
How The Credit Works
Here's how to activate the new ChatGPT credit on Amex cards, which is available for Business Gold Card and Business Platinum Card accounts:
- Get up to $300 in statement credits per calendar year: By making purchases of ChatGPT Business with your eligible card.
- Enroll in the benefit first: Login to your Amex account and click on your eligible card. Tap on “Rewards & Benefits” or “Explore Benefits.” Select the “$300 ChatGPT Business Credit” and enroll.
- Purchase a business plan with your enrolled card. Navigate to chatgpt.com/business to sign up.
- If you have an existing personal account: You can login and change it to a business plan. One thing to note: If you merge your personal chat history with your business account and later cancel the business plan and/or convert back to a personal account, you may lose access to your chat history. When switching account plans, ChatGPT warns: “You will lose access to your data if you leave or are removed from the Business workspace, or if the workspace is deactivated.”

Selecting A Plan
ChatGPT Business plans require a minimum of two users, at a rate of $20/seat per month when billed annually and $25/seat per month when billed monthly. That shakes out to:
| Annual Plan Pricing | Monthly Plan Pricing |
| $480/year | $50/month |
Comparing Savings
This is a cumulative credit, so if you select the monthly plan, your payments will be deducted each month until the credit has been exhausted for the calendar year. Note that you may be charged sales tax, depending on your state. I was charged Louisiana's 10% sales tax, so my monthly bill will come to $55 a month and will chip away at the credit a little more quickly.
- Annual plan: Your out-of-pocket expense will be $180/year, plus applicable taxes, after the credit.
- Monthly plan: Your credits on one card are enough to cover nearly 6 full months for free, depending on applicable taxes. Since this is a calendar year credit, plans starting in June will be covered (almost) in full through December. Next year, plans from January through June (or whichever six months of the year you purchase) will then be able to use the $300 credit for 2027.
Stacking Opportunities
- If your household has more than one card that's eligible for this credit, you can swap to another eligible payment method after six months.
- Occasionally, discount codes may pop up that can further savings. Doctor of Credit is a good source for tracking these, though most discounts have been short-lived so far.

Offer Terms
Here are some notable terms for the new ChatGPT credit on Amex cards:
- Business Platinum Card or Business Gold Card cardmembers or authorized account manager(s) can enroll in and are eligible for the benefit, but each card account is only eligible for up to $300 in statement credits per calendar year.
- Valid only on purchases of ChatGPT Business. Must be purchased directly through OpenAI in the U.S. and U.S. territories. Amex relies on accurate transaction data to identify eligible purchases.
- ChatGPT Business purchases are subject to auto-renewal. This means that monthly and annual subscriptions fees will be processed on the renewal date unless cancelled.
- Credits may take up to 8 weeks to be post.
- If there are delays with the merchant sending purchase info to Amex, the purchase may apply toward the statement credit available in the next benefit period.
- Credits may be reversed if a purchase is returned, refunded, cancelled or modified. Card accounts must not be cancelled or past due at the time of statement credit fulfillment.
