Search Partner Awards on British Airways

British Airways Executive Club is one of best ways to book short-haul flights on oneworld partners like American Airlines and Alaska Airlines. In fact, British Airways is our go to for booking domestic flights on American since you can fly for as little as 7,500 or 9,000 miles one-way. We get a lot of questions in our Facebook group about how to search partner awards on British Airways, so let's walk through the process.

Why Book American Airlines Awards through British Airways

American Airlines miles can be difficult to earn, since American does not have any bank transfer partners. The same goes for Alaska Airlines miles. But you can earn British Airways Avios by transferring points from Chase, Amex, CapitalOne and Bilt. Even those with Citi ThankYou Points can earn British Airways Avios by first transferring ThankYou Points to Qatar Airways Privilege Club and then to British Airways.

In addition, British Airways almost always offers better pricing on American Airlines flights than American does. This is because American has adopted dynamic pricing, meaning award prices for American Airlines flights can change at any time and there is no set award chart with pricing.

Meanwhile, British Airways uses a distance-based award chart where the price of the award is based on the distance of the flight. For flights of up to 650 miles within North America, British Airways charges 7,500 miles one-way in economy (15,000 in business). For flights of up to 1,150 miles, the cost is 9,000 miles one-way in economy (16,500 in business).
