We have seen enough posts / comments in the ToP Facebook Group and online about people not being to earn 5x Ultimate Rewards at warehouse clubs that I figured I would do a quick post on it. Especially with the 4th quarter the Chase Freedom & Freedom Flex rotating 5x earning category being wholesale clubs, select charities and PayPal. That may be fine for some wholesale clubs, but not loyal Costco shoppers, at least not for the Freedom Flex. That is because Mastercard is not allowed in club, only Visa. There is still hope though, here is how to use Mastercard at Costco and rack up spend on your Flex.

Costco's Website Works Differently

While only Visa is allowed in store, Costco's website is a bit different. They still allow every type of Visa cards online but they also include Mastercard credit cards online. That means you can use your Chase Freedom Flex on the website to order goods and services and earn the 5x Ultimate Rewards with the rotating category this quarter. That is one way how to use Mastercard at Costco but it opens up more options too.

How To Roundabout Use The Freedom Flex In Store

What if you don't want to buy anything online, but want to shop in store instead? This is where you can roundabout still get it done. That is once again possible thanks to the Costco website. They sell Costco shop cards online that you can buy with your Freedom Flex card on the website. You can then head into the store and pay for whatever you want with the Costco shop card that you earned 5x on purchasing online with the Flex. You just now used your Freedom Flex in store, albeit in a roundabout way.
