How to Transfer Credit Card Rewards To Another Person

Here at ToP, we've been detailing how each credit card rewards program handles transfers between account holders. One program allows the ability to transfer rewards to anyone who has the bank's credit card as well. Others have more restrictive policies. Here are all of the different banks' policies for how to transfer credit card rewards to another person.

Credit Card Rewards Transfer Rules: Full Breakdown

We'll discuss each bank's policies in detail, with a link to a longer post when warranted.

American Express

credit card transfer rules: amex

American Express runs the Membership Rewards program . Amex does not allow transfer between two Amex accounts directly. However, you can transfer Amex points to an authorized user's loyalty account to an American Express transfer partner. Authorized users have a 90-day waiting period after being added before you can perform the transfer.

Bilt

Bilt Rewards members earn Bilt Points. The program does not allow transfers between two Bilt Rewards accounts. However, you can transfer Bilt Rewards points to an authorized user's loyalty account to a Bilt transfer partner.

Capital One

Many Capital One cards earn Capital One Miles. Capital One allows transfers between any Capital One member that has a Capital One Miles earning account, with no limit. You can read our full guide here.

Credit Card Rewards Transfer Rules: ToP Thoughts

It's great to see several banks offer transfers between members. This can help members accrue enough points or miles to redeem that next reward even sooner. While several programs only allow transfers out of the program to an authorized user, that might be convenient enough for family members traveling together.

For me, I like to earn as many Chase points as possible for my Hyatt addiction. Between my wife and me, Chase's rules allow us to share points between our Ultimate Rewards accounts for easier Hyatt point transfers.
