Delta Cards Increased Offers Ending

I wanted to alert everyone to the fact that the current increased offers for the American Express Delta cards are ending some time today. These are pretty solid offers that should bring you upwards of $1,000 in value. While Skymiles are not the best currency, and on of the lower end airline miles, they can still be useful. Especially for short domestic flights or when they are running award sales. If nothing else, it is always good to be diversified with your options available when booking. While the personal cards are a strong no go for anyone under Chase 5/24, or trying to get under, the business cards offer an option to get away from Chase for a bit. Especially if you have been going crazy with those Ink offers ending last week. Let's take a look at the offers and I'll share my thoughts overall.

Amex Application Rules

If you choose to apply, remember that Amex typically will not approve you for more than two Amex credit cards during a 90-day period. They also have a limit of 5 credit cards per person, of which this is one. There is also  a 10 card limit on the colored Membership Rewards earning cards (of which this is not one of).

Amex also has a once per lifetime welcome offer rule on each card. This is more like every 5 – 7 years in reality though, and not actually your lifetime. That timeline is based off of when you last held a card, not when you last earned a welcome offer on the product though. If you are ineligible for the welcome offer for any reason American Express will usually let you know that with a pop-up before the application is processed. You can cancel the application at this time with no hard pull.

Thoughts On The Business Cards

If you are just getting into the Delta realm then I think the Delta Gold Business makes a lot of sense. It comes with some meaningful perks like free checked bags and 15% off award flights and the annual fee is waived the first year. That allows you to test it before you have to pay for it and the 75,000 miles should be worth at least $750 on flights since you can redeem them at 1 cent each as a card holder. Although you will likely get more value than that for the miles booking award flights instead.

If you are a Delta flyer and are chasing status then the Platinum Business can make sense for the MQM earning and MQD waiver. If you like perks, lounge access and upgrades then the Reserve may be the best for you.

Thoughts On The Personal Cards

These come with many of the same perks as the business cards, except they take up a Chase 5/24 slot too. The earning structure is better for them, having bonus categories like U.S. supermarkets, but these aren't really cards you want to spend on unless you are chasing status, MQMs and the MQD waiver. That is why I didn't include the earning structure, the point is moot I say!

Delta Cards Increased Offers Ending: ToP Thoughts

I have had all of these cards, except for the Reserve Business, at one time or another. There are pluses and minuses for each but the offers are worth a peek right now. Especially the business cards since they do not hurt your Chase 5/24 status. Which card works best for you depends on what you are looking for. If just looking for a good offer, some decent perks and no out of pocket cost then look at the Gold cards. If you want a decent earning structure while chasing status then the Platinum cards may work best. If you want perks out the wazoo and don't have an Amex Platinum already then the Reserve may be to your liking.

If you have a second player that can refer you then you could sweeten the pot a little more with a secondary bonus. If you don't have someone to refer you and you would like to support ToP then you can use the links in our card reviews (linked above). Just click through the card name of the one you are interested in and you should be on your way. Thanks in advance if you choose to support us.
