Best International Hyatt Category 1-4 Hotels

It's no secret that there's been a war waged against amazing Category 1-4 redemptions domestically in 2025. Personally, many of my favorites are now Category 5s (or higher). But, that doesn't mean that there aren't great redemptions to be had internationally for your Category 1-4 Free Night Certificates (FNC). While international travel takes more planning than a domestic trip, if you're consistently earning free nights from your Hyatt credit card or participation in the World of Hyatt program, here are 15+ of the best international Hyatt Category 1-4 hotels that are worth the effort.

How To Earn World of Hyatt Free Night Certificates

If you're wondering how to earn World of Hyatt Category 1-4 certificates, there are a few ways to do it. You can:

  • Hold the World of Hyatt credit card, which offers a Category 1-4 certificate every cardmember anniversary.
  • Spend $15,000 on your World of Hyatt card each calendar year, which earns you a Category 1-4 certificate.
  • Earn 30 elite nights through stays or spending in the World of Hyatt program (this would also earn you Explorist status).
  • Visit 5 distinct brands in the World of Hyatt Brand Explorer program. There are a total of 37 brands currently live, so seven category 1-4 certificates can be earned right now.

It takes some tracking, but know that you can also transfer certificates to any World of Hyatt member if you happen to run out of time using them before they expire. While it was once possible to receive points for expired awards, it's no longer possible in the program since they began allowing award transfers.

Other Things To Know About World of Hyatt Free Night Certificates

Annoyingly, these certificates all expire at different times, depending on how you earn them. Credit card certificates expire after 12 months, but certificates earned through the World of Hyatt program (like status and brand explorer nights) expire after 180 days. You're able to use these on any room up to Category 4, including peak dates that cost 18,000 points. You can't combine suite nights earned through the program with a free night certificate.

Best International Hyatt Category 1-4 Hotels: Favorite Category 3

While the bulk of this post will focus on Category 4 properties, there are solid uses for your Category 1-4 certificates at Category 3 properties as well. While you could also use them on Category 1 and 2 hotels, you'll likely want to use points instead, since the award price is so low. Category 3s cost 9,000, 12,000, or 15,000 points per night, depending on off-peak, standard, or peak night pricing.

Best International Hyatt Category 1-4 Hotels: Best Category 4

Best International Hyatt Category 1-4 Hotels: ToP Thoughts

At the end of the day, a free night is a free night. If you're able to save cash out of pocket, that's a major win. But, knowing how to best use your Category 1-4 certificates, if you have the option to maximize them, can better your trips abroad. There are certainly a lot more Category 4s out there that you can redeem for, though the list is smaller than years past due to recent devaluations.

For me, I'm most excited by the Park Hyatts I've yet to visit, like the Park Hyatt Siem Reap. Properties on the list from the UAE are also great picks, as I've had amazing experiences at various Hyatts throughout the region. My plan is to check a few of these off the list on my next trip to Asia. Let me know what your favorites are in the ToP Facebook group.
