Hyatt Globalist Status Challenge

Earlier today, I shared that many people were being targeted for an American Airlines instant status pass match and challenge, but that wasn't the only goodie to drop today. Because of the unique Hyatt and American Airlines partnership there are status matches dropping all over the place. Including a Hyatt Globalist status challenge that is going out to American Airlines AAdvantage flyers with status. I'll go over the details of this Hyatt status challenge, and how to improve your chances of getting targeted. If you already have status with Hyatt, then be sure to check out the article on the American Airlines status match & challenge.

Update 8/13/24: I added in a section about people that were targeted and already have Globalist status down below after confirming things with Hyatt.

Details Of The Offer

Here are the details for the Hyatt Globalist status challenge:

Starting today, eligible AAdvantage® status members who have linked their World of Hyatt and AAdvantage® accounts can register and enjoy the benefits of World of Hyatt Explorist status for 90 days with the option of completing qualifying activity in order to keep status through February 2026. Here's how it works:

  1. Eligible AAdvantage® Gold, Platinum, Platinum Pro and Executive Platinum members can register by October 31, 2024 to immediately start enjoying trial Explorist status for 90 days following registration.
  2. AAdvantage® Gold and Platinum members must stay 10 Tier-Qualifying Nights to keep Explorist status.
  3. AAdvantage® Platinum Pro and Executive Platinum members must stay 10 Tier-Qualifying Nights to keep Explorist status or stay 20 Tier-Qualifying Nights to earn Globalist status. If awarded, status will last through February 2026.

Qualifying activity is earned when a World of Hyatt member books an eligible rate or award night through Hyatt channels. Once earned, members can enjoy elite benefits like a dedicated check-in area, late checkout upon request, and room upgrades as well as club lounge access or complimentary breakfast for Globalist members.

  • In order for Tier-Qualifying Nights completed during the member’s Explorist Trial Period to count toward this offer, the member must check out of their reservation during their Explorist Trial Period.
    • If member checks into a reservation during their Explorist Period, but does not check out until after the Explorist Trial Period has ended, no nights stayed as part of that reservation will count toward this offer.

  • Limit one such offer each calendar year per Eligible Member except as otherwise provided.

What If You Already Have Status?

What if you are targeted for this challenge but already have Globalist status? You can still participate in this challenge, just like the Bilt challenge a year ago. That would make sense if you just weren't going to make it to Globalist again on your own this year. Maybe you were ready to move on, or the juice just wasn't worth the squeeze. Then this offer comes around and you already have a good chunk of stays set up in the promo period. Now it may make sense to activate this promotion and make a push for another year of status. If you don't think it is feasible, or you can hit it on your own, then don't activate it, since it bars you from doing another potential status promo for a year.

Hyatt Globalist Status Challenge: ToP Thoughts

If you have status with American Airlines, and have some Hyatt status upcoming, then this Hyatt Globalist status challenge could be interesting. I would wait to activate it until just before your new World of Hyatt stay though, since you have some time (until October 31st) to kick it off. Just remember to set a reminder to activate it before your next stay so you don't forget.

If you want to get targeted for these things, remember to link your two loyalty accounts with the programs.

Let me know if you are taking advantage of this Hyatt Globalist status challenge over in the ToP Facebook Group.
