World of Hyatt Free Night Welcome Offer

Ah, it’s the age-old hotel card welcome offer debate. Is it better to grab a points offer, or a free night certificate offer? The World of Hyatt Credit Card rolled out a new offer this week. This one serves up a chance to earn 4 Category 1-4 free night certificates after you spend $5,000 on purchases in your first 3 months from account opening. After this year’s award chart changes, Category 4 hotels can now cost as much as 25,000 points. Does that mean this offer is technically worth 100,000 points? Not exactly. While it’s technically possible that you could get that much value out of the certificates, you’ll want to keep a few caveats in mind about these awards. Here’s what to consider about the World of Hyatt free night welcome offer.

How Does This Offer Compare to Previous Offers?

Here are the details of the new offer that launched this week on the World of Hyatt Credit Card:

  • Earn 4 free nights at any Category 1-4 Hyatt hotel or resort after you spend $5,000 on purchases in your first 3 months from account opening.
    • Free night certificates earned from this offer expire 12 months from the date of issue.

For comparison, here are some of the now-expired offers we’ve seen on this card earlier in 2026:

  • Earn up to 60,000 Bonus Points:
    • Earn 30,000 Bonus Points after you spend $3,000 on purchases in your first 3 months from account opening.
    • Plus, up to 30,000 more Bonus Points by earning 2 Bonus Points total per $1 spent in the first 6 months from account opening on purchases that normally earn 1 Bonus Point, on up to $15,000 spent.
  • Earn up to 75,000 Bonus Points:
    • Earn 45,000 Bonus Points after you spend $5,000 on purchases in your first 3 months from account opening.
    • Plus, up to 30,000 more Bonus Points by earning 2 Bonus Points total per $1 spent in the first 6 months from account opening on purchases that normally earn 1 Bonus Point, on up to $15,000 spent.
  • Earn up to 5 Category 1-4 free night certificates:
    • Earn 3 free nights after spending $5,000 in the first 3 months.
    • Plus, earn 2 free nights after spending $15,000 in the first 6 months.

As you can see, prior to the current World of Hyatt free night welcome offer, the card has gone back and forth between points offers and free night certificate offers. So, which type is more valuable?

Are Free Nights Actually More Valuable?

Here’s how the awards earned from the World of Hyatt free night welcome offer will work:

The interesting thing about this offer is that Category 1-4 certificates are now technically worth more points than ever. The top-tier pricing of Category 4 hotels maxes out at 25,000 points in the aftermath of the 2026 award chart changes. Personally, I always prioritize using my Hyatt Category 1-4 certificates for Category 4 stays. And the more points required for the nights I’m booking, the better. The way I see it: If I’m booking a stay I might have otherwise spent 25,000 points on, I can go use those 25,000 points to book two or more nights at Category 1-3 properties.

How Common Are 25K Nights?

That being said, there’s no guarantee you’ll be able to find a hotel you want to stay at that will actually cost 25,000 points for the night(s) you want to book it. I ran some points calendar searches at some of the popular properties on our list of the Best Category 4 Hyatt Hotels in the U.S. As you’ll see, the 25,000-point nights are still relatively rare. Here are a few examples.

As one of the final remaining Category 4 redemptions in the greater New York City area, availability at Hyatt Place Long Island City / New York City can be competitive. But the hotel rarely charges 25,000 points a night.

Even in peak Mardi Gras season in New Orleans, the 25,000-point nights at the Hyatt Centric French Quarter are relatively rare:

Yes, there’s a Category 4 option in Hawaii! But even in one of the most expensive travel destinations in the U.S., Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach mostly won’t run you 25,000 points a night.

I see this similarly to our advice about avoiding speculative transfers, even when there is a juicy transfer bonus. Devaluations can happen at any time, and then boom! Your points—or certs, in this case—are harder to use. Using the examples above, let’s say you book four nights worth a total of 80,000 points. If you might have paid points otherwise, that’s a win. But as we noted in our previous comparisons of Hyatt’s free night and points welcome offers, the certs will be worth 0 points if you don’t use them before they expire. And that makes this offer a gamble. If you’re going to grab it, our advice: Earn the bonus, and then burn it as quickly as you can. Once the free night certs land in your account, don’t wait too long to book stays.

World of Hyatt Free Night Welcome Offer: ToP Thoughts

The World of Hyatt Credit Card remains one of our ToP cards each month. There’s still a ton of value in Hyatt, and a lot of it starts with the perks that come with this card. But is the current free night welcome offer worth it? The certs’ expiration dates, coupled with the fact that Hyatt devaluations often target high-value Category 4 properties, can sometimes make them challenging to use. Meanwhile, points offer greater flexibility to book whatever you’d like, whenever you’d like. We don’t always recommend holding out for a different welcome offer on credit cards in general, since it’s impossible to predict what will pop up next and when. And this card is a long-term keeper for most of us either way. But you should still evaluate this offer carefully to decide if “now” is the time to apply. If you would struggle to use the four free night certificates before they expire, this offer might be a pass.
