CSR OpenTable Dining Benefit

Up to $300 annually in dining statement credits? Say less. Last year's refresh of the Chase Sapphire Reserve® card introduced semiannual $150 OpenTable credits. Distinguished on OpenTable as “Sapphire Reserve Exclusive Tables,” the eligible restaurants lean high-end and trendy. That means you can get reimbursed for a boujee meal or two every six months. The restaurant list is limited and only includes select cities for now. We hear a lot of questions from ToP Facebook group members about which eateries qualify and how to best maximize the CSR OpenTable dining benefit. We've tested it out so we could answer all of your FAQs below. Update 6/24/26: Reminder that there is less than one week left to use the first 2026 credit.

How To Use The Credit

To start redeeming your credit, navigate to the OpenTable website or download its app. Click on the Sapphire Reserve Exclusive Tables banner at the top of the page and then “Add your eligible card.” Once your card is linked, click the “Explore restaurants” button in the Exclusive Tables box. Update the location to your preferred city. Any of the restaurants listed on this page should qualify. The credits are available semiannually:

  • Jan. 1-June 30: Up to $150 statement credit
  • July 1-Dec. 31: Up to $150 in statement credit

Fine Print of the CSR OpenTable Dining Credit

We've assembled this FAQ with some of the questions we hear regularly about this credit:

Do you have to use all $150 of the credit at once? How can I keep track of what I've used?

No. The credit is cumulative. Similar to the card's $300 travel credit, you can spread it across multiple purchases until you’ve either used the max amount or it expires, whichever happens first. The bank's app has a tracker that you can use to monitor your progress. Access it by clicking the Sapphire Reserve banner on your dashboard, then scroll to “Card benefits” and swipe through your credit trackers.

Do you need to book a reservation?

No, a reservation is not required to earn the credit. You only need to use your eligible card to pay for the meal.

Which restaurants count?

Currently, there are more than 300 participating restaurants in around 50 cities. It seems the program is actively working to expand. New dining options were introduced after launch in places like Orlando, San Antonio, Rhode Island, Richmond, Raleigh and Oklahoma City. To figure out which restaurants are eligible, click the “Explore restaurants” button in the Sapphire Reserve Exclusive Tables banner and browse the latest options directly in the app. Some of the time slots are color-coded to indicate that the reservations are only available for certain cardholders. This can be confusing, but as long as the restaurant is listed in the Sapphire Reserve Exclusive Tables section, it qualifies.

Do the Visa Dining Collection restaurants qualify?

No. This is a separate benefit for cardholders that provides “primetime reservations” and access to special events. This other list was curated with The Infatuation, which publishes dining guides and reviews. That website was acquired by JPMorgan Chase & Co. in 2021. Translation: This collection of eateries is more buzzworthy. (Think places that have won James Beard Awards or that are featured in the Michelin Guide.) They may otherwise be tricky to secure reservations at, which is why it's touted as another perk for cardholders. The list of covered cities and regions is a little wider than the ones included on the Exclusive Tables list, too. There are options in Mexico and Canada too.

Can you buy a gift card from the restaurant and earn the credit?

Your mileage may vary. The terms state that certain types of transactions, including delivery, takeout, merch and gift cards may not be identifiable to Chase’s systems. Our team has tested purchasing online gift cards from Exclusive Tables restaurants via Toast, and we did receive the statement credits. But we've also heard DPs of others not receiving the credits. You could try purchasing a smaller gift card first to test whether it codes correctly. Another option would be to purchase a gift card in person, so long as the restaurant runs the charge the same way that it would bill in-person dining. If you go the gift card route, just remember that there is no guarantee.

How long does it take the credit to post?

The terms say it can take 6-8 weeks to appear on your billing statement. My credits have posted instantly after the charge was no longer listed as pending, visible within three days.

My Experience Using The Credit

My P2 and I are still really enjoying using this credit. We've used ours for a birthday dinner and for drinks at one of The World's 50 Best Bars. Last month, I also used it to book an OpenTable Experience. I reserved the five-course traditional breakfast with drink pairings at Brennan's, a historic restaurant in New Orleans. Experiences can range from multi-course tasting menus to cooking classes to add-on perks like flowers and cakes for special occasions. Not every OpenTable Experience will be eligible for the card's dining credit. But if you click on one of the Sapphire Reserve Exclusive Tables and it happens to have an Experience listed, the credit can be used for it as long as it's a charge through the restaurant. Each time I've dined at an Exclusive Tables restaurant, the statement credits have taken about three days to post. They credited instantly once the charge was no longer “pending.”

CSR OpenTable Dining Benefit: ToP Thoughts

Whether you can take advantage of it while at home or while traveling, it's ideal to use this credit to help offset the card's higher annual fees. It can be a little tricky at first to figure out which restaurants qualify, but once you do, the statement credit works pretty seamlessly. Have you used this card perk?
