World Elite Mastercard Benefits

Knowing and utilizing your benefits is a worthy endeavor in award travel. In the award travel hobby, we often pick up many cards over time and create quite the portfolio. The problem is, that as they pile up, we sometimes overlook many of the benefits of these cards. One of the most overlooked card benefits come from simply holding a World Elite Mastercard. And the good news is, you might even already have one, or several of these cards in your wallet. Mastercard has three tiers of card benefits: the Standard Mastercard, World Mastercard, and World Elite Mastercard. We will walk through some of the World Elite Mastercard benefits you could already have in your wallet.

What is a Mastercard?

Mastercard and Visa are both payment processing networks, and you have probably seen their logo on your credit cards. But, what really is Mastercard, who are they, and what do they have to do with your card? Simply put, they are payment networks that partner with banks like Citibank, Capital One, Wells Fargo and many others. While your credit card is actually issued by a bank, your credit card operates on Mastercard's payment processing network. Each of these payment processors wants more business on their network. As part of trying to boost that volume, Mastercard offers benefits for using its cards in order to entice more usage. These benefits come directly from Mastercard and are on ToP of any benefits you already could be receiving from your cards issuing bank.
