Aeroplan 10% Bonus on Transfers

I've written a lot about the Aeroplan program, especially during my massive trip fueled with Bilt Rewards in 2023. It is probably my favorite loyalty program in the world and easily my favorite for Star Alliance flights. I also love the co-branded airline card and we regularly recommend it in the ToP Facebook Group. As much as I love the card, the Aeroplan 10% bonus on transfers from Ultimate Rewards is the best perk of the card and one of the most underrated card perks available. I'll outline the ins and outs of this perk, along with why it is so valuable.

The Chase Aeroplan® Credit Card Perks

If you haven't read our full review of the card, you should do so. You can find the card review here. It is a great card and typically comes with a very lucrative sign-up bonus. It also earns 3x points in various categories, earns 500 bonus points for every $2,000 in monthly spend, up to 3x per month, and offers an Aeroplan 10% bonus on transfers from Chase Ultimate Rewards. You receive Aeroplan 25K status for the year you open the card and the following year. You keep 25K status if you spend $15,000 or more in a calendar year and can “level up” one tier by spending $50,000 or more in a calendar year, all the way up to Aeroplan's highest status tier, Super Elite. Once you add up all these perks, you quickly realize this card is a long-term keeper for most people.

Lost in the details, however, is how valuable the 10% bonus on transfers is. I think this is the card's most underrated perk for most people and the main reason I continue to hold this card.

How the 10% Bonus Works

In theory, an Aeroplan 10% bonus on transfers from Chase Ultimate Rewards sounds fantastic. But how useful is this perk? Like most everything in the financial world, the devil is in the details. The terms of this perk are as follows:

For a card with an annual fee under $100, the potential for up to 25,000 bonus points per calendar year is fantastic.

My Experience with Aeroplan 10% Bonus on Transfers

I book often with Aeroplan and attempt to max this bonus each year. When a 20% transfer bonus between Chase and Aeroplan was announced in June 2025, I knew it was time to take advantage of this perk. I had travel to book with Aeroplan and a 30% bonus was too good to pass up. On June 5th, I transferred 250,000 Ultimate Rewards to Aeroplan. The 250,000 points posted immediately, as did the 50,000 bonus points from the public transfer bonus. The 10% cardholder bonus did NOT immediately post, but arrived on the morning on June 7th, less than 48 hours later.

10% Transfer Bonus: ToP Thoughts

Most cards these days have lots of perks, but few of them actually materialize to something that is actually valuable. That is why I think the Aeroplan 10% bonus on transfers is one of the most underrated card perks out there. For a $95 annual fee card, this perk is insanely valuable if you utilize Aeroplan. Even at 1.5 cents per point, the 25,000 annual bonus maximum is worth $375. If you can do this every few years, the card more than pays for itself. This is one of the major reasons it is my favorite airline card and a long-term keeper in my wallet.
