American Airlines is testing a new way to handle those frustrating rolling delays that move a flight back by 15 or 20 minutes at a time, even when the inbound aircraft is still hours away. The pilot program at Charlotte Douglas International Airport will use the inbound aircraft’s expected arrival time to provide a more realistic boarding estimate. This won’t make the plane arrive any faster, but at least passengers may be able to grab dinner, return to the lounge or make alternate plans instead of staying tethered to the gate.
Singapore Airlines Named the World’s Best Airline for 2026 — Skytrax
Singapore Airlines has been named the world’s best airline in the 2026 Skytrax World Airline Awards, reclaiming the top spot from Qatar Airways. It also won awards for the world’s best economy class and economy-class catering, while Qatar took home the awards for best business class and onboard Wi-Fi. These rankings are based on passenger surveys. Personally, I would pick Qatar over Singapore almost every single time. Even despite Qatar's recent booking challenges.

Turkish Airlines does not publish a formal status-match offer, but recent data points show that travelers are still having success requesting one. A match to Miles&Smiles Elite comes with Star Alliance Gold benefits, including access to eligible United Clubs when flying United domestically on a same-day itinerary. The process is a little clunky, so I would only pursue this match if you have upcoming travel that will help you meet the challenge requirements and actually use the benefits.
Chase Is Planning a Sapphire Lounge at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport — The Bulkhead Seat
Seattle may be the next airport to join Chase’s growing Sapphire Lounge network. If approved, Chase would take over The Club SEA’s current location and expand it into a roughly 16,000-square-foot lounge. There is no opening date yet, but this would bring another premium lounge option to one of the busiest airports on the West Coast.
