This is a wild end to this relationship. Not the best look for Marriott either – to have guests kicked out of their rooms mid stay and left scrambling. They should be offering full refunds and a free room at a near by Marriott hotel.
Visa & Mastercard Settlement Could Change Credit Card Rewards Landscape – One Mile at a Time
Could you imagine the absolute mess this would be if it goes through. I am also assuming most vendors would either just accept all cards and / or will add a swipe fee (which many already do). The real annoying thing is you know that swipe fees are already baked into the cost of things at these merchants. If they start denying higher cost cards you know there will be no price reduction. Or they will charge us a swipe fee all while not reducing the prices of things. So we would either be paying the same to get lower end rewards on our cards, or paying more to get the same rewards. The merchants would just be taking rewards from us and putting the money in their own pockets.
Venmo Adds Rewards Program ‘Venmo Stash’ – Doctor of Credit
This could be mildly interesting in the right hands. Especially potentially getting 5% at Walmart.
