StubHub at 12x on Rakuten
It's a good day for a triple stack. StubHub is at 12x on Rakuten today for its Big Deal Reveal. On a $150 purchase, you could earn 3,450 transferable points today (1,650 Ultimate Rewards, plus 1,800 Amex Membership Rewards or Bilt points)—if you play your cards right. Stacking With Chase Sapphire Reserve Credits
Chase Sapphire Reserve® cardholders and authorized users get semiannual StubHub credits for purchasing tickets through either StubHub or its sister site, viagogo. Credits are available through 11:59 p.m. ET on the last day of these periods:
- Jan. 1-June 30: Up to $150 statement credit
- July 1-Dec. 31: Up to $150 in statement credit
Enroll in the Credit
You'll see it on your Benefits dashboard. Chase's terms say this is a one-time activation, but you may still want to double-check that you are enrolled before making your purchase.
Using the Credit
No minimum purchase is required, and if you are running a charge for less than $150 you can rack up charges cumulatively until you meet $150. Note that gift cards and purchases through StubHub International. The statement credit will be automatically applied. They typically post within 3 business days, though the terms say they may take up to 4 weeks. Chase says it may reverse credits if a purchase is returned, canceled or modified—or if your account is closed within 90 days of receiving a statement credit.
Run the Purchase Through Rakuten
Navigate to StubHub via Rakuten. Use your eligible card to make a qualifying purchase. StubHub pricing can vary wildly—in and out of Rakuten, across sites, etc.—so you may still want to compare tickets across sites. But if the prices vary only slightly, it's worth it to use the Chase credit and simultaneously earn the points via Rakuten. (And potentially Paze, too. More on that below.) You can expect your Rakuten points to post 6-17 weeks after checkout. Not a Rakuten member yet? Earn More Points + Credits With Paze
If you're paying with your Sapphire Reserve Card, you can also check out with the popular digital wallet Paze. Chase's new-ish Paze benefit (See our guide) allows those who hold select cards to earn +10X on purchases when paying with those cards via Paze. You can also get $10 off Paze purchases with this promo. StubHub is one of the merchants that can process payments through Paze, so this is a great way to earn extra points. Checking out with Paze through Rakuten can be finicky. If you don't see Paze as a checkout option on the Rakuten app, trying click through to Stubhub through the Rakuten website instead.
A Different Option: Split Tender / Pay With Two Cards
If your household has more than one Sapphire Reserve card, you can each use your card to buy two tickets on separate transactions to the same show or event. Or, if you're making a purchase on one transaction because you want to ensure you're seated together, you can split the payments on two cards by using PayPal to checkout instead. You won't be able to stack this with Paze's credits or points earning, but this method still could still be useful otherwise to spend two $150 credits at once.
First, add both CSRs to your PayPal account. When you go to check out through PayPal, toggle on the “Split” button and select the two cards you want to pay with. Note that this can be a bit YMMV, as we have seen varying DPs on the PayPal charges coding correctly and/or charges being declined. If you are having issues, double check that your address and information on your account and payment method all match correctly.
