Southwest & United Upgrade Offers
There have been a round of Southwest & United upgrade offers going out to select cardholders. This is kind of rare for Chase, since they are not well known for offering upgrade offers. Even when they do the offers are usually not overly exciting. It is something that American Express has always done well, but not so much in Chase's case. Let's see if they got it right this time around, and if you should consider any of these offers.
Southwest Upgrade Offers
Here are the details for the targeted Southwest upgrade offers (HT FM):
- Earn 5,000 bonus points when you upgrade to the Rapid Rewards® Premier Credit Card and make your first purchase by April 30, 2026.
- Earn 5,000 bonus points when you upgrade to the Rapid Rewards® Priority Credit Card and make your first purchase by April 30, 2026.
- Earn 10,000 bonus points when you upgrade to the Rapid Rewards® Performance Business Credit Card and make your first purchase by April 30, 2026.
The 10,000 point offer is kind of interesting, but the 5,000 point ones are much less so. Especially considering that it involves taking on a larger annual fee. Not requiring any type of spend is a nice touch though. I could see these being potentially useful for someone just shy of triggering their Companion Pass in 2026. That is assuming these upgrade points would work towards the requirements, which I think they would.
United Card Upgrade Offers
Here are the details for the targeted United card upgrade offers (HT FM):
- Earn 15,000 bonus miles when upgrading to the United℠ Explorer Card & making your first purchase by April 30, 2026
- Earn 15,000 bonus miles when upgrading to the United℠ Explorer Card by April 30, 2026 & spending $1,500 in the first three months
- Get a $150 statement credit when upgrading to the United℠ Explorer Card & making your first purchase by April 30, 2026
- Earn 15,000 bonus miles when upgrading to the United Quest℠ Card & making your first purchase by April 30, 2026
- Earn 15,000 bonus miles when upgrading to the United Quest℠ Card by April 30, 2026 & spending $1,500 in the first three months
These offers are bit more tempting than the Southwest offers. Even though most require $1,500 in spend, I think most would take that for up to 10,000 more miles. Not to mention that United miles are considered more valuable over Rapid Rewards by most people.
Southwest & United Upgrade Offers: ToP Thoughts
Let us know if you see either of these targeted offers on your accounts over in the Facebook Group. While they won't light the world on fire, they could make sense in the right situation. With these offers being upgrade offers they shouldn't hurt your 5/24 count either.
