IHG App Bonus Points
There's a new (targeted?) IHG app bonus points offer that is going out via email. I was the lucky recipient of this offer, but am not sure if I'll have a chance to use it. If targeted, and it makes sense for your travels, it is nice to get bonus points for nothing! Let's take a quick look at this offer.
Details of the Offer
The email subject line is “3,000 points are yours when you book through the app.” My email arrived on April 23, 2026. The details of the offer state that you must:
- Register for the offer
- Book via the IHG app and stay within 30 days of registering
- You will receive 3,000 points for completing these steps

Terms & Conditions of the Offer
The terms & conditions of the IHG app bonus points offer are fairly straightforward. These include:
- you must have an active, valid IHG One Rewards account
- you must be invited to participate in this promotion
- Advanced registration is required
- Within 30 days of registration, you must 1) book a qualifying stay via the IHG mobile app and 2) complete the stay
- A “qualifying stay” is a minimum one night stay with total spend of $30 or more per night
- Participating hotels include all participating IHG Hotels & Resorts and participating Six Senses properties (as identified on each hotels' booking page)
- Stays booked using Reward Nights or Points & Cash are not eligible

IHG App Bonus Points: ToP Thoughts
As mentioned previously, if this works for your travels, bonus points are always great. However, the nitty gritty of this offer is that if you have to go out of your way at all, this offer is simply not worth it, for 3 main reasons. First, IHG points are worth about 0.5 cents each, so this is a ~$15 bonus. Second, IHG is regularly on shopping portals, like Rakuten, at 10X or more. If your stay is close to $300, you can probably do better booking directly via the IHG website after clicking through a shopping portal. Lastly, the Chase Sapphire Reserve and Chase Sapphire Reserve Business each have a $250 credit for IHG properties in 2026, as well as 2x $250 credits for The Edit. If you have either or both of those cards, and are booking an IHG property, you're better off using those credits first.
