There is a new Delta SkyMiles award sale on flights to Asia and the South Pacific. From now through Thursday, March 26, Delta SkyMiles members can book discounted award flights to far-flung destinations including Hong Kong, Seoul, Sydney, Tokyo, Taipei and more for as low as 25,400 SkyMiles roundtrip. Delta announced the sale in an email to SkyMiles members on Tuesday.
You won't find these low rates from every airport to every destination Delta is advertising. But it's certainly worth looking into if you've got a stash of SkyMiles and your sights set on a trip to Asia this year.
Delta SkyMiles Flash Sale Details
SkyMiles flash sales like this are often one of the best ways to book Delta flights for a fraction of the miles they'd typically cost. If you have a co-branded Delta SkyMiles credit card, it's an even better deal as you'll get a 15% discount on award bookings with Delta's TakeOff 15 benefit.
With this Delta SkyMiles flash sale, members can book discounted award flights to destinations throughout Asia and the South Pacific for travel this spring, summer and fall. This flash sale runs through Thursday, March 26.
You'll find the best deals for Delta economy tickets. It doesn't get much better than a long-haul flight to Asia for just 25,400 SkyMiles roundtrip. What's more, you'll find these same low SkyMiles rates for both nonstop flights and flights. For example, you book this nonstop flight from Los Angeles (LAX) to Hong Kong (HKG) for 24,500 SkyMiles and $46 in taxes and fees.
Meanwhile, you can book this flight from Detroit (DTW) to Hong Kong (HKG) with a layover at LAX for the same 25,400-mile rate.
It t may take some trial and error to find the best rates. And as is often the case with these SkyMiles flash sales, some of the deals are even better than Delta is advertising.
What About Delta One Business Class?
Looking to redeem your SkyMiles to fly Delta One business class? It's possible with this sale, but the deals are harder to find.
H/T to Thrifty Traveler, who was first to unearth Delta One award availability with this SkyMiles flash sale. While paying 89,000 miles might seem high for a one-way business class ticket, this is as about as good as it gets with Delta SkyMiles. Again, Delta SkyMiles cardholders get the best deal with the 15% discount on all award tickets.
How To Book This Delta SkyMiles Deal
To find these discounted Delta SkyMiles flash sale flights, you can search from Delta's dedicated flash sale page or conduct a regular award search on Delta's website. To begin, enter your home airport and desired destination. Be sure to select “Shop with Miles” and “My dates are flexible” to pull up a calendar of available dates.
If you're seeking business class flights, it's best to search one way at a time. Click “Advanced Search” and select “Delta One” from the “Best Fares For” drop-down menu.
Toggle over to the “Price Calendar” tab. The lowest rates will be in green. Use the arrows on either side of the page to see more dates. Once you zero in on your desired dates, you'll be taken to another screen to choose your specific flights.
If you have an eligible Delta credit card, you'll see the TakeOff 15 discount already reflected in the price. The lowest rates you'll see will be for Delta Main Basic — what Delta now calls its basic economy tickets.
Upgrade to Main Classic for the ability to select your seat in advance and cancel your flight for a full refund of your SkyMiles and any taxes and fees.
Delta is also an American Express transfer partner, so you can always transfer Amex points to Delta to get the SkyMiles you need to book these flights. Keep in mind that Amex does charge a small fee on transfers to its U.S. airline partners like Delta.
