Bilt Devalues Hyatt Transfers
The hits keep coming for World of Hyatt fans. Only yesterday, the transfer ratio on the Chase Sapphire Preferred and Chase Ink Business Preferred to Hyatt dropped from 1 to 1 to 4 to 3. Today, we've learned that Hyatt's only other transfer partner, Bilt Rewards, is following suit. As of January 1, 2027, Bilt devalues Hyatt transfers to 4 to 3 as well. These changes, coupled with the massive overhaul of the World of Hyatt program this year and the regular annual category changes, is a quadruple whammy for Hyatt loyalists. As bad as all of this sounds, there remains a few silver linings.
Why The Change?
If you've been living under a rock for the last decade, you may not be aware that the World of Hyatt program is easily the most rewarding hotel loyalty program over the last decade or so. Hotels start at only 3,000 points per night, Hyatt's Globalist status is extremely rewarding, and the award travel lifestyle is more popular than ever. In the midst of this popularity surge, welcome offers continue to increase exponentially. There's currently a 200K signup bonus on a Sapphire Reserve for Business and a 50,000 signup bonus for a Bilt Palladium card, both of which equate to 200K or 50K Hyatt points. These particular offers were unheard of only a year or two ago. All of these positive changes lead to negatives somewhere. Those negatives are the waves of devaluations we've seen.
With the $95 cards from Chase devaluing transfers to World of Hyatt on October 1, 2026, it should not come as a surprise that Bilt Rewards is not far behind. We fully believe that these changes are Hyatt's demands, rather than both Chase and Bilt doing cost-cutting measures. The surprise to us, however, is that Chase has not devalued the 1 to 1 transfer ratio on its premium cards (Sapphire Reserve and Sapphire Reserve for Business), while Bilt devalues Hyatt transfers to its premium Palladium card. You'd think Bilt would want to carve out transfer ratios on the Palladium card, especially with its $495 annual fee.

Silver Linings?
Are there any silver linings to the news Bilt devalues Hyatt transfers as of January 1, 2027? Yes, we believe there are. First, we have 3 months notice of this change. While this news is really, really bad, at least we got 90 days notice and time to prepare. Second, we envision a possibility of a (gasp!) Rent Day transfer bonus to Hyatt now. Whether it is limited to Bilt Palladium cardholders, Bilt Platinum status members, or a combo of the two, it seems likely that Bilt will want to reward loyal cardholders (at a $495 annual fee) to the same transfer ratio as premium cardholders at Chase. Third, if you hold a Chase Sapphire Reserve or Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business, you do not need to worry about devaluations to Hyatt. At least, there's no need to worry now. Given these troubling trends, we don't think anything is off the table in the coming years.
Bilt Devalues Hyatt Transfers: ToP Thoughts
Two devaluations in two days. That is rough. Fresh off of the Chase devaluation as of October 1, 2026, we now know Bilt devalues Hyatt transfers to 4 to 3 as of January 1, 2027. You can avoid these Hyatt devaluations indefinitely with a premium Chase card, although who knows what is in store for World of Hyatt transfers in 2027 and beyond. For now, plan how best to maximize your Bilt Rewards for Hyatt prior to 1/1/27 and let's hope there is a Bilt Rent Day transfer bonus at some point in the future.
