Chase Freedom Flex® Credit Card Review
The Chase Freedom Flex® launched back in 2020, replacing the Chase Freedom card. This card is a great earner and one that we recommend you get to complete your Chase trifecta. It also recently went through a card refresh, with some useful benefit changes. In our Chase Freedom Flex® review, we will discuss the current welcome offer, earning structure, card benefits and share our overall thoughts.
Freedom Flex's Current Welcome Offer
The Chase Freedom Flex® has the following Limited Time Offer:
- Earn a $250 bonus after you spend $500 on purchases in your first 3 months from account opening.
- This is equivalent to 25,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards® when paired with the proper card. (See more below.)
- No annual fee
Chase Application Rules
Like other Chase cards, you will not qualify for this card if you have opened 5 or more credit cards with any bank in the last 24 months. You also cannot receive the welcome offer on this card if you have earned one in the last 24 months. This does not include other Freedom cards. You can carry each Freedom card type at the same time and still get the welcome offer.

Chase Freedom Flex® Credit Card Review: Earning Rates
The Chase Freedom Flex® has the following earning structure:
- 5% cash back on up to $1,500 in combined purchases in bonus categories each quarter you activate. Enjoy new 5% categories each quarter.
- 5% cash back on travel purchased through Chase Travel℠
- 3% cash back on drugstore purchases and dining at restaurants, including takeout and eligible delivery service
- Unlimited 1% cash back on all other purchases
- No minimum to redeem for cash back. You can use points to redeem for cash through an account statement credit or an electronic deposit into an eligible Chase account located in the United States.
How To Turn Your Cash Back Into Ultimate Rewards
While you can earn cash back with the Chase Freedom Flex®, you can also use your points for travel if you have a premium Chase Ultimate Rewards®-earning card such as:
- Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card
- Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card
- Chase Sapphire Reserve®
- Sapphire Reserve For Business℠
That is because the Chase Freedom Flex® is part of the Chase Ultimate Rewards® program, allowing you to transfer points between all of your accounts. Once your points are in an Ultimate Rewards®-earning account (one of the cards listed above), you can transfer points to a variety of airline and hotel partners.

Chase Freedom Flex® Review: Card Benefits
The Chase Freedom Flex® doesn't come with a super long list of benefits, which isn't surprising for a no annual fee card. Card perks include:
- New benefit: Earn rewards worldwide with no foreign transaction fees.
- $10 off quarterly on non-restaurant DoorDash orders through Dec. 31, 2027, plus 6 months of complimentary access to DashPass
- 2% cash back on Lyft rides through Sept. 30, 2027 (1% cash back in addition to the 1% cash back you’d already earn)
- World Elite Mastercard® perks

Chase Freedom Flex®: ToP Analysis
The Chase Freedom Flex® card can be a great addition to your lineup for earning Chase Ultimate Rewards®. What really makes the card so powerful is its rotating collection of 5% (5x) quarterly categories. Earning 3% on drugstores and on dining is also great, with potential restaurant earnings on par with the more expensive Chase Sapphire Preferred® and Chase Sapphire Reserve® cards.
Earning potential in the first year can easily reach over 55,000 Ultimate Rewards®, if you maximize the current welcome offer and your quarterly bonus categories. You can easily increase that value by taking advantage of the travel portal, dining or drugstore bonus categories. Any way you look at it, there is serious value here for a no annual fee card, especially when that cash back can be turned into valuable Ultimate Rewards®.

Chase Freedom Flex® Credit Card Review: ToP Thoughts
The Chase Freedom Flex® is a very competitive no annual fee card. Even without the welcome offer, this is a great card to have and keep long-term. The Flex continues to be a great earner to top off your Chase Ultimate Rewards® balance. It’s hard to imagine better earning possibilities on a card with no annual fee.
