Andaz Pattaya Jomtien Beach Review

Andaz Pattaya Jomtien Beach is the first Andaz in Thailand, which opened in 2023. This resort adds to a growing footprint in the region with other Andaz properties located in Bali, Delhi, Seoul, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Singapore, Tokyo and Xiamen. The hotel features 204 rooms, suites, and villas, which start from 538 square feet. The minute you arrive at the Andaz Pattaya (pat-ta-yaa) Jomtien (jom-tee-en) Beach, you will find yourself in a tropical jungle-like oasis complete with a river that flows into a lagoon. The perfect way to relax and cool off from the heat. We will cover all of the highlights of this beautiful property in my Andaz Pattaya Jomtien Beach review.

RELATED: This is not the first time Travel on Point(s) has been eager to review the first Andaz in a new country.

Location

Located about 83 miles south of Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), the Andaz is about a 90-minute drive from Bangkok. Despite having Pattaya and Jomtien beach in its name, the resort is about 10 minutes away from the Jomtien Beach public area and 15 minutes to the outskirts of Pattaya. Other than an oddly placed water park near the main road entrance, you will feel secluded once you wind your way down a narrow street, through a neighborhood, and into paradise. Private transfers are abundant online and are easy to book; mine was about $40. For trips to town, you can easily use Bolt, which is a local alternative to Uber.

Andaz Pattaya Jomtien Beach Review: Typical Booking Cost

Andaz Pattaya Jomtien Beach is a Category 4 in the World of Hyatt program. This gives you great value by being able to use Hyatt free night certificates. Here are the award costs for a standard room:

  • 12,000 points off-peak
  • 15,000 points standard
  • 18,000 points peak

Here are the award costs for a standard suite:

  • 21,000 points off-peak
  • 24,000 points standard
  • 27,000 points peak

Cash rates for my stay were over $300 with some nights over $350. This meant my use of points and free night certificates provided solid value. The resort features 204 rooms, suites, and villas, which start from 538 square feet. The buildings are only two stories each and surrounded by lush jungle-like vegetation.

Check-in

Upon arrival, a friendly bellman whisked away my luggage and I was escorted into a large waiting area with couches. I received a delicious welcome drink and cold towel as I completed the check in process.

The staff highlighted some key points of the property as they led me to my room. The resort gives off a wonderful tropical feel as you walk through with lush vegetation and plenty of birds chirping in the trees.

The resort's layout can feel like a bit of a maze, but once you discern the paths to and from your room to the main walkways, it becomes much easier. As I was shown the features of the room, I appreciated that the resort also provides complimentary insect repellant. I did not end up experiencing any issues with mosquitoes or other insects, perhaps thanks to the repellant.

Andaz Pattaya Jomtien Beach Review: King Bed Lagoon Access

I received an upgrade to a Lagoon Access Room, which provides easy access to the lagoon pool directly out of the patio door. It was a great feature and made it easy to cool off on a moment's notice.

Andaz Pattaya Jomtien Beach Review

The room felt spacious and large. It had an entry way as well as a large walk-in closet with plenty of room for any clothes and suitcases.

There was also an umbrella available for the tropical rainy afternoons. I also like having the bathroom toilet separate from the shower and sinks, which can be a good family-friendly feature. It featured a nice space that can work as a dining or work area.

The large king bed was comfortable but surprisingly lacked outlets for charging. A large couch and a sitting area that included a day bed completed the bedroom area.

The bathroom was large and spacious as well with a large circular soaking tub. The shape of the tub could make it tough for some. The shower features a dual rain shower or regular handheld shower option that seems more standard in luxury hotels. Dual sinks are always a favorite feature of mine.

There was a mini bar stocked with beverages, including beer. I was informed everything would be restocked complimentary except for one of the beer brands. This seems a bit odd to have one item excluded.

Andaz Pattaya Jomtien Beach Review: Property and Amenities

Let's take a look at the Andaz Pattaya Jomtien Beach amenities next in this review, of which there were plenty.

Dining

The resort features several restaurants offering plenty of choices. They were doing some minor remodeling during my stay so one of the restaurants (La Cucina) was not available.

I dined at the Fish Club my first day, which sits near the beachside pool. I had a wonderful local fish and chips with an Asian slaw that was fantastic.

The breakfast was a bit unique and chaotic all at the same time. I am not sure if the construction played into this or if this is their normal operation. The breakfast layout was spread out over two restaurants next to each other, separated by a small outdoor area.

The seating in the Wok Wok restaurant area featured Thai and Asian flavors for breakfast items.

The other area used the Village Butcher restaurant and featured English-style breakfast items. Both had buffets set up as well as an option to order items à la carte. You could get items off either buffet regardless of where you were seated but had to go outside and into the other dining area. This made it feel a bit crazy with so many guests trying to go back and forth. There was also a fruit cart set up outside in between the two restaurants that offered fresh fruit.

The Teak Lounge is the resort's version of a lobby bar, offering handcrafted cocktails in the evenings and coffee in the mornings. Except during breakfast, the resort felt empty throughout my stay. Guests might find themselves as the only one having a drink at any of the bars at any given time.

The Andaz also has a Ruen Thai, which is a Thai tea house. The building looked fascinating but the hours were so limited that I was unable to visit.

Pools

The infinity pool was beachside and next to the Fish Club. It can definitely be a bit of a walk from the main area of the resort down to this pool.

Andaz Pattaya Jomtien Beach Pool

The lagoon pool is closer to much of the resort.

I tended to lounge and cool off at the lagoon as this was more convenient with the lagoon access room. The area also has a large water slide and is close to the kids club and splash pad, all of which can appeal to families. Of course, I always make sure to test out the water slides (for journalistic integrity) and can vouch for this one that–while short–it was fun.

Kids Club

The kids club and splash pad play area make this tropical oasis very family friendly. It has a smaller water slide if you do not want to try the main one in the lagoon pool area. The kids club is open from 9 am to 5 pm daily and for kids ages 4 to 12.

The main indoor area of the kids club features an indoor play area, swings, and locally inspired arts and crafts activities.

Spa & Gym

The resort features a spa that can be a great option for guests looking to unwind without leaving the resort. I briefly looked at the menu and the prices were favorable compared to many resorts. However, keep in mind that Thailand features great low prices for spa services and massages in many areas.

For those that want to get a workout, the gym offers plenty of options. For those who like to run outside, I will note that the resort recommended not going off property into the neighborhoods, although the area felt safe.

Elite Perks and Recognition

Last up in my Andaz Pattaya Jomtien Beach review is a look at the elite perks and recognition. As a World of Hyatt globalist, I received an upgrade to a lagoon access room. It does look like there are some nice rooms and villas that would be a great upgrade if available. The resort did not feel busy but it was a holiday weekend, so I'm not sure if that played into only receiving a minor room upgrade.

Globalist members also receive complimentary daily breakfast. I was not required to sign a bill for breakfast, but would rather just give the room number upon seating. I enjoy the free water benefit, especially in a tropical location. There was never a lack of water in the room or available water bottles spread throughout the room in several areas such as the fridge, coffee station, and bathroom. I love it when a resort is gracious with this benefit.

Andaz Pattaya Jomtien Beach Review: ToP Thoughts

The Andaz Pattaya Jomtien Beach is a family-friendly tropical oasis that feels like you are in a remote jungle. Whether you want to just relax or enjoy time in the city, this resort gives you the best of both possibilities. If you are planning a trip to Thailand, this should definitely be on your list as a great way to unwind for a few days. Andaz Pattaya Jomtien Beach is another winner for the Andaz collection and Hyatt brand.
