The EU is implementing its new Entry/Exit System (ESS) which will rely on biometric data rather than passport stamps to digitally record exits and entries across EU borders. Ultimately this is supposed to speed up the border process, but so far there have been some challenges at airports that started the process early. The Travel to Europe mobile app may help speed up the process since it lets you add your information up to 72 hours prior to arrival.

Three major U.S. domestic airlines have now used rising fuel costs as an excuse to raise the fees for checked baggage. Delta and United both raised prices by $10-$50 per bag, while Jet Blue's price hike was more modest at $4-$9 per bag.
