Thompson Seattle Quick Thoughts
Back in December, I was trying to decide how to use my 2025 credit for The Edit. I settled on a staycation at at a property I'd had my eye on for a while: Thompson Seattle. If you have a trip planned downtown, this property is well-located—and you'll be able to see the whole skyline from the rooftop bar. That said, I found some other details lacking. Here are my Thompson Seattle quick thoughts.

What Was The Cost Of Booking Thompson Seattle & Is There Is Value In The Price?
This is a Category 5 hotel on the World of Hyatt award chart. Pre-devaluation nights are priced at:
- Off Peak: 17,000 points
- Standard: 20,000 points
- Peak: 23,000 points
Had I booked through World of Hyatt, I would spent 17,000 points per night, as my stay fell during off-peak pricing. However, back in December, I needed to use my 2025 The Edit credit, so I booked this for two nights through Chase Travel. I used the $250 credit plus 20,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards for an out-of-pocket cost of $2.58. I got 1.6 cents per point value for my 20,000 Ultimate Rewards. My loyalty-eligible stay appeared instantly in my Hyatt app. (Note: If one of these bookings does not show up, don't be concerned. You can usually reach out to Hyatt and have them look it up. The same goes for American Express FHR stays.)
My Edit stay included a $100 property credit and a $30 credit per person for breakfast. If you have Globalist status, it will allow for a larger discount since most properties don't restrict your spend. (Hyatt's terms for Globalist status state your stay “includes one entrée or standard breakfast buffet, juice and coffee, as well as tax, gratuity and service charges.”) My breakfast was about $40 just for my one entree, coffee and juice, plus tax and automatic gratuity. It is worth noting that the $100 property credit can be used on parking here. But at $68.75 a day, that credit will be gone fast, especially if you're paying for a two-night stay through your Chase Edit booking. So I just used Spot Hero, a parking site that maps nearby parking prices. Pro tip: Spot Hero is on many shopping portals. Instead, ended up using my credit at the rooftop bar over the two nights.

Thompson Seattle Quick Thoughts On The Room: What I Liked About It & What Could Be Improved
There was nothing wrong with the room, but there was nothing about it that wowed me. Maybe I am getting spoiled here. But I even showed the space to a couple other friends with Hyatt experience, and they agreed. This somewhat reminded me of the Andaz in San Diego, size-wise. If you are not used to the Seattle rain, have no fear as the rooms include an umbrella to use. I think adding some more Seattle flair to the room would be a nice touch. The bathroom had one of those showers without a fully shutting door, and there was an oddly placed shelf above the sink.

I think my Edit booking led to some confusion at check in, as the staff didn't realize at first that I was a Globalist—even though they said my loyalty number was there. The front desk clerk had to get some information from me that should have been on file and had to have a manager look at the booking. By this time, it was already into the evening and there were no upgrades available. I really just wanted a room with a view, and I was not get too concerned with having a suite. That being said, the staff got me a water view on the 11th floor for night two. Now, that view finally did wow me.

What Are Some Of The Better Amenities Thompson Seattle Offers & Is It Missing Anything Important?
As more of a boutique hotel, Thompson Seattle didn't have a lot of amenities here other than then the bar and restaurant. A rooftop bar is always a nice place to start or end the evening, though. I found the interior a bit small, but whether permitting, this is really an underrated spot. Add in the great, friendly bartenders, and this is a must-visit. Not many downtown Seattle hotels have pools and hot tubs, although Hyatt at Olive 8, another boutique property does. With this view though, I think that could be a great feature to add here.

What Was Your Favorite Thing About Thompson Seattle?
Outside of that rooftop bar? Location, location, location. You're in close proximity to Pike Place Market and everything that entails, plus the waterfront and plenty of bars and restaurants. Visitors can also head a few blocks down to the nearby Belltown area.
Would I Stay At Thompson Seattle Again?
I do not come downtown often. But if I knew I could get the water view room, then I would definitely return. Otherwise, I really like the Hyatt at Olive 8, which is a bit further up by the Hyatt Regency. I like the Olive 8 for suite upgrades, plus the pool and hot tub.

Thompson Seattle Quick Thoughts
Lake Washington Hyatt Regency is my usual local hotel, but this hotel had long been on my radar. So I'm glad I checked it off. The rooms were fine, nothing special necessarily. However, the water view is worth everything! Have you stayed here? Be sure to also check out my trip report in the Facebook Group for more details.
