It's a good time to burn your Rapid Rewards points. There's a Southwest award sale running through Monday, July 20, offering fares from 7,000 points each way on select routes. There are even deals on offer for Hawaii, Alaska and the Caribbean. This represents a somewhat rare opportunity to snag Southwest Airlines award flights at flat pricing, rather than its typical dynamic rates that are tied to cash fare pricing. And if you have Companion Pass, your travel for two becomes even cheaper. It's good for trips through November 18. Let's take a look at the terms, blackout dates and restrictions—and run a few searches, too.

Southwest Sale Details

Here are the details of the Southwest award sale:

• Book by: July 20, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. PT
• Sale dates:
  • Continental U.S. and interisland Hawaii travel: Valid from August 8, 2026, through November 18, 2026
    • Blackout dates: September 7, 2026
  • Continental U.S. travel to/from Hawaii; Anchorage; St. Thomas; Puerto Rico; and international: Valid from August 11, 2026, through November 18, 2026
    • Blackout dates: September 3-8, 2026
• Seats, days and markets limited. Fares valid on nonstop service only. 
• Must purchase at least 21 days in advance advance.
• Points bookings do not include government fees from $5.60 per one-way flight. Additional fees may apply.

Fare Pricing

The advertised pricing of the Southwest award sale is as follows, but it may be possible to find lower or higher fares. Southwest's terms note that seats, days and markets are limited and that fares may vary by destination, flight and day of the week. Promo fares also won't be available on some flights that operate during “very busy travel times and holiday periods.”

Award Sale Terms

The full terms of the Southwest award sale are lengthy, but here are some of the most notable ones:

• Travel is available for one-way Basic fares, unless otherwise specified. Fares may be combined with other Southwest Airlines^® combinable fares. If combining with other fares, the most restrictive fare's rules apply. Basic fares are nonrefundable and non-changeable except as allowed by the 24-hour cancellation policy.
• Award travel is subject to taxes, fees and other government or airport-imposed charges of at least $5.60 per one-way trip. Amounts vary based on arrival and departure destinations.
• When traveling on reward travel, you will receive all fare product features but will not earn Rapid Rewards points.
• Any change in itinerary may result in an increase in points used. Points bookings are subject to change until ticketed.
• Offer can't be used in conjunction with other special offers, toward the purchase of a gift card, or previously booked flight, or changed to a previously booked flight.
• Exclusions: Group travel, Getaways by Southwest™, or military and government fares.
• If you cancel your reservation at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled departure of your flight, any remaining unused points will be returned to your Rapid Rewards account.

Because the Southwest award sale fares are valid on nonstop service only, you'll want to search from airports that fly direct to your destination. Southwest's award pricing normally follows cash rates. With flat fares from 7,000 points each way, the Southwest award sale is a chance to get some solid value for your Rapid Rewards points.
