Chase Freedom Gas & Grocery Offers
Two of our favorite offers are back, the Chase Freedom gas & grocery offers. The Freedom cards, especially the Flex, are some of the better personal no fee cards on the market. The Flex comes with the excellent 5x rotating category earning on the cards but the standard welcome offer isn't great. Sometimes they offer these increased offers that makes it feel like a quarterly bonus ALL YEAR LONG!
The best part is if you pair these cards with an annual fee Ultimate Rewards earning card (Sapphire Preferred, Sapphire Reserve or Ink Preferred) then that cash back becomes transferrable Ultimate Rewards currency. New Chase Freedom Flex Offer
Here are the terms of the Freedom Flex‘s refer a friend welcome offer:
- Earn a $200 bonus (20,000 Ultimate Rewards) after you spend $500 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.
- Earn 5% cash back on combined gas station and grocery store purchases (not including Target® and Walmart®) on up to $12,000 spent in the first year (that's $600 cash back or 60,000 points)
- This would stack with the rotating categories too for a maximum of 9x earning during the gas or grocery quarters.
The Freedom Flex has the following earning structure:
- 5% (5x) on travel through the Chase travel portal
- 5% (5x) on different categories each quarter on up to $1,500 in spend each quarter
- 3% (3x) on dining inclusive of takeout and delivery
- 3% (3x) on drugstore purchases
- 1% (1x) on all other eligible purchases

Chase Freedom Gas & Grocery Offers: ToP Thoughts
If you maximize these welcome offers that is like earning 80,000 Ultimate Rewards points for $12,000 in spend. That is assuming you have a card listed above to unlock the points. If you double dip the quarterly spending categories, when they are gas or grocery, then it gets even better! That is an additional 12,000 points if you waited until those quarters to hit up some of the $12,000 in spend. Talk about the triple stack!
