Hyatt Place Cabo San Lucas Review
A Hyatt Place is not on everyone’s radar when venturing south of the border, but I tend to love this kind of property for many reasons. This one is great for those that may want to do a mattress run, where you build up Hyatt nights on the cheap when off peak, dropping to 3,500 points per night. For me, I love not wasting (in my opinion) a night at a high-end resort when getting in later in the day. This is especially helpful if on a points or cash budget. Either way you look at it, this definitely meets the Mexico stay the cheap points way. That is true even if peak pricing is in effect at 6,500 points per night. I'll go over everything you need to know in this Hyatt Place Cabo San Lucas quick hit review.

This hotel is located approximately a 20–25-minute drive from the Cabo San Lucas Airport. You can arrange private transportation, where prices will vary. Pricing becomes easier with more travelers, since many companies offer one price for up to a certain number of passengers. Many of the Travel on Point(s) team have used Cabo Airport Shuttle. The service was great and easy to book. This tends to be too expensive, in my opinion, for the short drive to the Hyatt Place Cabo San Lucas, so shop around. Uber now does operate at the airport, but with a bit of a catch. Uber can be a great option once at the resort too, especially if heading out on the town or to your next resort. You have plenty of dining options nearby, including a small shopping center with Starbucks and a grocery store. The grocery store can add to your savings by picking up some necessities for your trip. This makes it a great option if staying at Hyatt Ziva next, which is a short walk away.
Hyatt Place Los Cabos Review: Typical Booking Cost
Hyatt Place Los Cabo is a Category 1 in the World of Hyatt program.
- 3,500 points off peak
- 5,000 points standard
- 6,500 points peak
This makes the property a points steal in a potentially high price area for other resorts. Always check the cash prices as well too, and make sure your cents per point rate makes sense. Many like to get 2 cents per point with Hyatt and at times this hotel may only be in the $100 range. Because of that, it is always worth checking (for every hotel stay really). If you are new to the Hyatt ecosystem, remember that one of the major perks is that Chase Ultimate Rewards transfer 1 to 1 to the World of Hyatt. You can earn Hyatt points (either Chase Ultimate Rewards or Hyatt points) from these cards:
- Chase Sapphire Preferred
- World of Hyatt Credit Card
- Chase Freedom Unlimited
- Chase Freedom Flex
- Chase Ink Cash
- Chase Ink Unlimited
- Chase Ink Preferred
- World of Hyatt Business Card
Hyatt Place Cabo San Lucas Review: My Room
Hyatt Place typically does not have much variety in rooms. My room was no different than what many will recognize as a Hyatt Place. I found the room to be clean and had no issues with it.
There was a safe and a small refrigerator in the room which is always a welcomed touch. I like having space to work as well and this room had that. My room did not have a view, although they do have some view rooms. Based on the set up and location of the hotel, my guess is there are a limited number of rooms with a view. My view was of the condo building next door. I will add that a friend stated their room had a musty smell here, but I did not experience that. Don't worry about that too much though, as just one block away you can find restaurants and bars with lovely evening views.
Property/Amenities Review
I found check in staff to be fast and friendly. I had already checked in online via my Hyatt app as I often do. With this hotel being a Hyatt Place I did not have to worry about upgrades. I was given an overview of amenities, which included a large breakfast area, a small lobby bar and restaurant.
This one had a fantastic breakfast area and not your normal Hyatt Place breakfast offering. I compare it very closely to the Hyatt Place Tijuana. It gives you a large spacious breakfast area with quality much higher than a Hyatt place you might be used to.
They also have a small pool area. Again, not a normal resort pool for a Mexico resort. However, it works just fine as a low cost option, or at the beginning or end of your trip.
Hyatt Place Los Cabos Review: ToP Thoughts
A Hyatt Place usually does not make you look forward to the breakfast, but this one did. This is two Hyatt places in Mexico that had great breakfast set ups when compared to the norm. Additionally, I enjoyed the location, since there are plenty of food and beverage options close by. Most importantly though, the Hyatt Place Los Cabos is a way to add on nights to a stay and save some points. You could also use this as a way to do Mexico the cheap points way, if needed.
