Hyatt Airline Partnership Changes
Did you see this shakeup coming today? This morning, World of Hyatt and American Airlines shared plans to end their long-term loyalty collab. Hours later, Hyatt announced a brand-new partnership coming soon with Delta Air Lines. The American Airlines relationship will come to a close over the coming months, with eligible members able to continue earning and using existing benefits for a little while longer. Meanwhile, Hyatt and Delta will soon introduce new opportunities for eligible elite members to earn rewards across both flights and hotel stays. Here's what we know so far about the Hyatt airline partnership changes.
American Airlines Partnership: What's Changing + When
This morning, AAdvantage and World of Hyatt announced that, “after careful consideration,” they have “mutually decided” to end their enhanced partnership. You can read the full announcement here. But the gist is that eligible members can continue accessing current shared benefits through each program’s current earning year. And then, the programs will transition away from one another. Important end dates for these Hyatt airline partnership changes include:
- November 15, 2026: Members must have linked their AAdvantage and World of Hyatt accounts by 11:59:59 p.m. CT on this date in order to continue accessing eligible earning opportunities and benefits.
- December 31, 2026: Eligible World of Hyatt members can keep earning AAdvantage awards through World of Hyatt Milestone Rewards until this date.
- February 28, 2027: Eligible AAdvantage members can continue earning World of Hyatt awards through AAdvantage Loyalty Point Rewards until this date.
- What’s not ending: AAdvantage members can still choose to earn 500 AAdvantage miles instead of World of Hyatt points on eligible Hyatt stays by providing their AAdvantage number at check-in.
Delta Air Lines Partnership: What’s Launching + When
Shortly after the AA announcement, World of Hyatt and Delta SkyMiles shared news of a loyalty collaboration between the two programs. We don’t yet know all the specifics. But once the program launches, eligible elite members will have opportunities to earn dual rewards. These Hyatt airline partnership changes mean that soon:
- Eligible World of Hyatt elite members will be able to earn World of Hyatt points on qualifying Delta airfare purchases in eligible fare classes.
- Delta SkyMiles Medallion members will be able to earn Delta miles on qualifying stays at participating Hyatt properties.
- The announcement also teases that exclusive benefits and travel experiences are to come, with more to be unveiled later in 2026.
Hyatt Airline Partnership Changes: ToP Thoughts
The Hyatt and AAdvantage partnership has gone through several iterations over the years. But it simply hasn't been quite as valuable since major changes to the partnership back in 2025. In recent years, some of the more interesting offerings have included opportunities to trade Hyatt points for a day of AA elite status and the chance to earn Hyatt free night awards once you earn certain amounts of AAdvantage Loyalty Points. We'd imagine the on-and-off status match opportunities will dry up now, too. We'll wait to see what the Delta-Hyatt partnership actually includes, but the chance to earn rewards simultaneously across both programs sounds promising.
