How to Use Capital One Offers
Want to get 50x, 60x or even 90x miles for your purchases? These are the kinds of massive Capital One Offers multipliers we often get posts about in the ToP Facebook group. The larger ones are lucrative enough to make a significant dent in that business class international award flight you've been eyeing. But you've probably also seen us offer a warning: As amazing as these promos can be, they sure are finicky. The offers are often targeted, which means not everyone will see the same one—or even see one at all. They can disappear rapidly, sometimes even moments after clicking them. And the tracking? Well, it can be tricky. If you can accept that those high rewards may come with some risk, it might be worth it to you to give these deals a shot. Here's how to use Capital One Offers.

Activating Capital One Offers
Here's how to use Capital One Offers:
- Sign in to your Capital One account on the website or app. Navigate to the “Activate shopping offers” section and click “View all offers.”

- Select the card account you'd like to browse offers for. If you want to earn miles, select a miles-earning card. More on that below.

- You'll see that there's a ton of offers. If you keep clicking “View more offers,” you might be scrolling a long time. Capital One says it has offers for thousands of merchants, and I believe it.
- If you are hunting down a specific offer, you can try to narrow them down by clicking the offer categories. Or, you can search for the vendor name using the search bar at the top. The search function can occasionally be glitchy, though.

- Some offers are listed as multipliers or percentages. Others will have set miles or dollar amounts listed.
- Activate an offer by clicking through to the merchant's website for online purchases. For eligible in-store offers, activate the offer before shopping and ensure you use the specific card you activated it for.
- Complete your purchase, reading the terms closely before paying.
- Rewards will be applied to your account once the purchase qualifies.
Offer Types: Cash Back vs. Miles
Capital One Offers payouts vary based on your eligible Capital One card. They can be issued as:
- Cash back (statement credits)
- Miles
The payout type is determined by the account that you view the offers for. Miles-earning cards will see the miles multipliers (25x, etc.), whereas a cash back-card would see the offer listed as 25% back. If you value Capital One miles and the bank's roster of transfer partners, you're likely better off activating a miles offer. This will allow you to get outsized value when transferring to a hotel or airline partner. Personally, I always take the miles.

In-Store vs. Online Offers
Some promos are available both online and in stores. Here's how to use Capital One Offers for both, with the official requirements as follows:
| Online | In-Store |
|---|---|
| Start your shopping session through the Capital One Offers link. | Activate the offer before making your purchase. |
| Complete your purchase during the same browser session opened from Capital One Offers. | Pay using the same eligible Capital One card used to activate the offer. |
| Complete the purchase within 24 hours of opening the offer. | Complete your purchase before the offer expires. |
| Multipliers generally exclude taxes, shipping, fees, credits and third-party add-ons. | Multipliers may sometimes include taxes and other fees, depending on the offer terms. |
Capital One also notes that it does not share your personal information with participating merchants for online offers, but may share some limited information for in-store offers, including the last four digits of your Capital One card and transaction details, in order to verify the purchase.

What About Capital One Shopping?
Note that Capital One Shopping is a different platform entirely, though the names sound similar enough to be confusing. Capital One Shopping has its own dedicated app, browser extension and website. The portal is open to anyone who registers for an account; it is not limited to Capital One customers. Rather than cash back or miles, Capital One Shopping rewards are redeemable for digital gift cards. (See options listed here.)
Capital One Shopping can have some pretty massive multipliers itself. Sometimes, vendors will be elevated across both the Offers and Shopping platforms on the same day, and you'll want to weigh which system you'd rather earn through. The Capital One Shopping portal will also test for additional coupon codes you can use at checkout. It has some price comparison and price drop features, too. Tracking and Payouts for Capital One Offers
Some Capital One Offers are so valuable, they almost feel too good to be true. And that's where tracking difficulties come in. While some people have great success with Capital One Offers tracking, it can be very be hit-or-miss for others. It makes Rakuten look like the gold standard in this regard. We've seen enough DPs in the group to know that Rakuten's own tracking isn't perfect, but our team has found it to largely be much more consistent than Capital One Offers tracking. Capital One says it automatically tracks eligible transactions and applies those rewards to your account. To improve your tracking chances:
- Review each offer's eligibility requirements before purchasing. Note exclusions, such as using discount codes. Be sure to complete purchases before the offer expires.
- Complete online purchases through the Capital One Offers link, and activate in-store offers before paying.
- Although some users report that online purchases can still track when paid with another card, using the same eligible Capital One card gives you the strongest case if you need to contact Capital One about missing rewards.
- Take lots of screenshots and screen recordings of your checkout process, the applicable terms, etc. They will be good to have on-hand if something goes wrong.
The timeline for payout posting is about 45 days, although timing may vary by merchant and terms. As always, returning or canceling all or part of a qualifying purchase may cause the purchase to become ineligible for a payout.

How to Use Capital One Offers: ToP Thoughts
With great risk sometimes comes great rewards … and that's a bit how I view Capital One Offers. Earlier this year, I probably spent about an hour of my weekend trying desperately to hunt down the elusive, viral offer to earn 14,400 miles for making a restaurant order on DoorDash. No luck for me! But these offers can be—and have been—super lucrative for others. Once you know how to use Capital One Offers, we'd recommend carefully following the terms and taking plenty of screenshots if activating any of them. Do you use Capital One Offers? If so, what's been your best score—or your biggest miss? Share your thoughts in our Facebook group.
