Hilton Is Giving Away Status

There is a new promotion that I thought I should alert everyone to. It looks like you can start off the New Year with some free hotel status since Hilton is giving away status. While it is their low end status, which isn't worth much, they give you a chance to make it even better too.

Details Of The Offer

Here are the details of this offer:

  • Receive instant Silver Status through April 29, 2024 with this special offer.
  • Plus, if you stay 8 nights by April 29, 2024, you'll earn Gold Status through March 2026.

Silver Status Doesn't Offer Much In The Way Of Perks, Except For One

While getting Silver status for nothing is nice, it isn't worth a whole lot. Here are the main perks of the status:

  • Earn 20% more points on cash stays
  • Free bottled water
  • 5th night free on award stays

That last one is the key here. While I think everyone without Hilton Honors status should do this, it only takes a second after all, the real value is the 5th night free. If you have any 5 night bookings during the promotion period then this could save you a ton of points. Getting a 20% bonus on earned points, if you have upcoming cash stays, is a nice little perk too.

Gold Status On The Other Hand…

While Hilton Honors Silver status doesn't give you much in terms of perks, Gold status on the other hand, does. If you already had some Hilton stays lined up in the first quarter then your ears should be perking up. Especially since you can earn Hilton Honors Gold status until March of 2026 with this offer. Nuts!

Here are the meaningful perks you get, on top of the 5th night free perk mentioned above:

  • 80% bonus points on paid stays (now we're talking)
  • Space available room upgrades (usually much better overseas)
  • Daily food & beverage credit (at the same rate as top tier Diamond status – which is dumb I know)

I believe Hilton Honors Gold to be the best mid tier hotel status out there. The fact that the food credit is the same as top tier Diamond status still blows my mind as well. Upgrades are usually to a higher floor etc. domestically, but sometimes you get a club room or the occasional suite. I have had better luck with suites overseas though.

Credit Cardholders Can Give This One A Pass

If you hold one of the annual fee Hilton credit cards, like the Surpass, Aspire or Hilton Business card, then you don't need to worry about this. The Amex Platinum and Business Platinum can be thrown in there too. That is because you already have Gold or Diamond status from carrying one of these credit card. This is intended for people that don't have any of those yet, but still stay at Hilton semi often.

Hilton Is Giving Away Status: ToP Thoughts

I like that Hilton is giving away status, even if it is low level status, since you need it for 5th night free awards. The ability to earn meaningful Hilton Honors Gold status for two years is the true winner here. If you already had travel with Hilton planned, or other travel that could be switched to Hilton for the same cost, then this may be of interest to you.
