Hilton Honors Elite Status Changes
Hilton just unveiled some major changes coming to its Hilton Honors loyalty program next year. The headline-making news is that Hilton Honors is making its elite status easier to earn in 2026. The program is also debuting a new top status tier called Diamond Reserve for travelers that stay and spend frequently with Hilton. We break down all the Hilton Honors Loyalty program changes for 2026.
Hilton Makes Status Easier to Earn
Hilton is changing the requirements for earning its higher tiers of status, actually making it easier to obtain Gold and Diamond status. Hilton Gold status is arguably one of the best mid-tier elite statuses you can earn. It comes with valuable perks like complimentary space-available room upgrades at check-in and free breakfast or a daily food and beverage credit, depending on where in the world you're staying.
These are the new requirements to earn Hilton Honors status 2026:
- Silver: 10 nights (no change), 10 nights, 4 stays or $2,500 in spending
- Gold: 25 nights (down from 40 nights), 15 stays or $6,000 in spending
- Diamond: 50 nights (down from 60 nights), 25 stays or $11,500 in spending
Of course, you can continue to get automatic Hilton status by holding a co-branded Hilton American Express credit card.
A New Hilton Status Tier
Come 2026, Hilton is also introducing a new highest tier of status: Diamond Reserve. This is long overdue for Hilton Honors, as Diamond status — the previous top tier — didn't offer much in the way of premium perks compared to Gold status, which is cheaper to earn.
The new Hilton Diamond Reserve status comes with the following benefits:
- Confirmable Upgrade Rewards (CUR) for premium room upgrades
- Guaranteed 4 p.m. late checkout on eligible stays
- 120% points bonus on all Hilton stays
- A dedicated 24/7 Diamond Reserve customer service support email and phone line
- Access to executive lounges and nearly a dozen of Hilton’s Premium Clubs
Unlike other tiers of Hilton Honors status, qualifying for Diamond Reserve requires a mix of stays and spending. Earning Diamond Reserve requires 80 nights or 40 stays and $18,000 in annual spending — a tall task for average travelers.
How Confirmable Upgrade Rewards Work
Confirmable Upgrade Rewards are the most exciting benefit of the new Hilton Diamond Reserve status. Confirmable Upgrade Rewards can be redeemed for a premium room upgrade at the time of booking. During the booking process, Diamond Reserve members will be able to toggle on the option to show availability for CUR redemptions.
Confirmable Upgrade Rewards can be used on both eligible paid and reward stays up to seven nights at any participating Hilton property. This includes the following luxury hotel brands in Hilton's portfolio:
- Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts
- Conrad Hotels & Resorts
- LXR Hotels & Resorts
- Signia by Hilton
- NoMad Hotels
You'll receive a CUR upon reaching Diamond Reserve status. You'll have the option to earn a second one when you hit 120 nights or 30,000 points.

Hilton Gold status comes with some incredibly valuable benefit when you stay at Hilton properties, and now it's even cheaper to earn.
