Excluded Properties for Hyatt Suite Upgrade Awards
Hyatt's hits keep coming. Its suite upgrade awards got a little less valuable this month. Back on 7/8/26, we shared that two of the program's top-tier properties were added to Hyatt's growing list of excluded properties for Hyatt suite upgrade awards. And now, the hotel giant has quietly updated its terms and conditions to add three more exclusions. The changes were first flagged by Loyalty Lobby. Let's look at which properties—and World of Hyatt members—this will impact. UPDATE 7/23/26: We've updated the list to add newly excluded properties.
What Are Suite Upgrade Awards?
One of Hyatt's most coveted perks, suite upgrade awards can be collected through milestone awards. They allow members to upgrade to a standard suite at the time of booking. A standard suite can provide extra space, increased room occupancy or a more luxe experience—or a combination of all three. They can also bring stellar value, particularly for families. The ability to upgrade at booking (as long as there is availability) is a benefit unique to World of Hyatt. It has been one of the many reasons the program has grown such a fanbase. Unfortunately, we are continuing to seeing benefits like this get eroded over time. And now, we have more excluded properties for Hyatt suite upgrade awards.
Current Excluded Properties
The newly excluded properties are Hyatt Regency Anchorage, the Mar Monte Hotel and the Park Hyatt Mendoza. The Hyatt Regency Anchorage is a Category 4 property that is not yet open. Mar Monte is an Unbound by Hyatt property located in Santa Barbara, California. It is a Category 6 hotel that was renovated and rebranded back in 2020. A Category 4 located in Argentina, the Park Hyatt Mendoza opened back in 2001.
Earlier this month, Alila Napa Valley and Grand Hyatt Grand Cayman were also added to the list. They are both Category 8 hotels on the World of Hyatt award chart. Alila Napa Valley joins a handful of other Alila properties where you can't use these awards. Long delayed in opening, Grand Hyatt Grand Cayman is currently slated to debut in the fall of 2026. Notably, it is the first Grand Hyatt in the Cayman Islands and one of the only World of Hyatt bookable options in the area.
Meanwhile, the additions are part of a growing club of around 100 specifically excluded properties for Hyatt suite upgrade awards. In addition, there is a long list of brands that are excluded in entirety.
Hyatt's list of ineligible properties
As of July 2026, you can't use suite upgrade awards at any of the below hotels, per Hyatt's official terms and conditions. Note that this list may or may not be complete. When we last posted about this list, Facebook member Tarik T. reported being told by a concierge that Alila Hinu Bay doesn't participate either. I also noticed that the terms list properties that have not yet opened, have since rebranded or even left the program entirely. (For example, Studios at Alila Seminyak is now KLEO Seminyak; AluaSoul Alcudia Bay is now Bordoy Alcudia Bay—and there are other instances of scenarios like this on the list, too.) I don't believe this list is being perfectly maintained, even if it is being updated to add newly ineligible properties. So as with all things, YMMV with using suite upgrade awards at Hyatt properties.

Finally, suite upgrade awards cannot be used for premium suites at: Hyatt Ziva or Hyatt Zilara hotels and resorts, at the Chatwal Lodge, Residences at Grand Hyatt Deer Valley, or at any hotel and resort that doesn't offer premium suites.
Excluded Properties for Hyatt Suite Upgrade Awards: ToP Thoughts
Just this month, we've seen five more properties added to the list. Let's hope this trend does not continue. It piles on another blow following this year's big Hyatt devaluation. It's a bummer to see soon-to-open hotels lose access to one of these elite perks, too. Some families plan trips around using these awards, and this may deter travel plans entirely. This is a small devaluation in the grand scheme of things, affecting those with plans to travel to these properties. But it's still significant—especially after everything else that has transpired with the program so far this year. Will these latest exclusions impact you?
