Dining Program Sign Up Bonus

Many loyalty programs have ancillary ways to earn redeemable points and miles. Some dining activities in programs even help you towards elite status. Here's our guide to all the dining programs out there, how they work, and their respective sign-up bonuses.

How dining programs work

While there might be small differences between programs, most require linking a credit card to track your dining purchases from participating dining merchants. And, before you get too excited, registering a credit card in one program prohibits that card from crediting to another loyalty program's dining offers. Whatever the last program that the card signed up with would be the one receiving miles or points credit. That is especially true since most of these programs are run by the same company on the back end.

You can link multiple cards to each program, or even use a different card for each program. The great part about dining programs is that once your card is linked, there's nothing else you need to do. Miles and points are deposited automatically into your selected loyalty account.

Which Option Is Best?

As you can see, there are many of your favorite loyalty programs to choose from. The “best” program might be a subjective one depending on how you value your points and miles. For me, big standouts are Marriott's sign-up bonus and Rakuten's earning potential at 5X Membership Rewards points. On Rent Day, Bilt Members could earn 6X Bilt Points, which might be huge for a larger dining bill.

Dining Programs: ToP Thoughts

Dining programs are another great way to earn bonus points and miles. While it may seem daunting to add another thing to track, the program makes it easy to earn points without you even knowing it. By linking your card in advance of your dining purchases, you may earn “surprise” rewards on your next meal. Picking the right program may be the hardest part, but I recommend sticking with a program that you use the most, rather than trying to maximize value in a program that you don't interact with often. Let us know what your favorite dining program is over in the ToP Facebook Group.
