Delta To JetBlue Status Match

The sharks (aka airlines not named Delta) are circling. They smell frequent flyer program blood in the water! Because of it, JetBlue is firing some pretty big shots at Delta with their new Delta to JetBlue status match offer. This isn't your run of the mill test run of a competing airline status match, which everyone does. No, this is offering perks above and beyond, like Mint upgrades etc. Let's take a look at the offer.

Update 10/3/23: Status started posting last night, for myself included, so check your emails. Email subject was: Way to go, Mark! You've landed Mosaic.

My Experience With The Delta To JetBlue Status Match

As a current Delta Platinum member I decided to take advantage of this. I have never flown JetBlue, mainly because their route network is pretty awful for me. If I was able to work Mint into the equation though, then maybe I would fly East to fly West and mix in a layover. I figured I might as well strike while the iron is hot, even if I don't end up using it. The possibility of a free Mint upgrade was worth the few minutes of effort.

After plugging in my Delta frequent flyer info, plus my JetBlue number, I was asked for some screenshots. They wanted one showing my current status level and earning so far this year. I also needed to share a screenshot of recent booking confirmation, or boarding pass, with my status and info on it.

Finding something that had my full name on it, and my status levels, wasn't the easiest thing. Most screens just had my first name. I pulled up a PDF of my Skymiles account so far this year and sent them the entire thing. I would rather give too much than too little in this instance. After filling everything out and sending over the files they said I should get an email letting me know if I was approved or not. It took around 5 – 10 minutes in total to complete.

ToP Thoughts

I have a feeling this is going to get mighty ugly for Delta over the next few months. They cut way too far and shafted people that have been loyal to them for decades. I guess their thinking is the business travelers they may get end up outweighing the regular Jimmy and Joe that they will lost. Someone should tell them there are power in numbers. I wouldn't be surprised to see a reversal of sorts in a year or so when all those premium Delta Amex cards get cancelled and swiped millions of times less per year.
