Combine Hyatt Points Digitally

The change we have been waiting for nearly all year is here at last. Starting today, October 15, World of Hyatt members can combine Hyatt points digitally. This update was originally promised back in February, when the news first broke of Hyatt’s 2026 award chart devaluation. Digital transfers replace a dated, slow process that required members to download and manually submit a form. Now, members can make transfers directly through Hyatt’s website. Let’s take a look at how the new process works.

What Is Points Pooling?

Some credit card currencies, hotel programs and airline programs allow you to pool, combine or gift points between members’ accounts. In some cases, this is limited to spouses or members of the same household. But some programs allow you to share points with any other loyalty program member. Luckily, World of Hyatt is one of them. Even though the old manual request process was a bit of a pain, the ability to share points with any family member, friend or colleague has been a huge perk of the program. In fact, we’d argue it’s another reason why so many award travelers continue to find great value in World of Hyatt.

New Terms and Limits for World of Hyatt Points Pooling

Here are the updated terms to be aware of when you combine Hyatt points digitally.

  • Points are transferred at a 1:1 ratio, starting at a minimum of 1,000 points and in increments of 500 points thereafter, up to 525,000 points per transaction.
  • Members may transfer up to 525,000 points and receive up to 525,000 points per calendar year through the points gifting process.
  • Members may transfer points once per calendar month, up to a maximum of six transfers per calendar year.
  • Points are generally transferred within 24 hours. Transactions requiring additional review may take up to 10 business days. (However, in our tests, the transfers were instant.)
  • There is no cost for World of Hyatt members to transfer bonus points to another eligible World of Hyatt member under the points gifting process.
  • The World of Hyatt accounts for both the sender and recipient must have been active and open for at least 60 days. Both members must be in good standing.
  • To complete a transfer, the sender must provide the recipient’s first name, last name, email address and World of Hyatt member number.

How This Compares to the Old Process

Before you could combine Hyatt points digitally, you previously had to follow these steps:

  • Download the point-combining form on Hyatt’s website. You could either print it out or edit the digital PDF. In case you want to save the old form for your time capsule, here’s what it looked like. But I think most of us will be happy to never have to look at this thing again!

  • Enter the amount of points to be transferred along with key info about both members, including their World of Hyatt account number, address and the phone number and email on their Hyatt accounts.
  • Email or mail (yep, snail mail!) the completed form to Hyatt’s points-combining email address, customer service mailing address or your Globalist concierge.

As we documented here, these manual transfers could sometimes take a long time. We’re talking anywhere from 1-4 weeks. Those with Hyatt Globalist status were usually able to get these transfers finished much more quickly. Globalist members of the ToP team typically saw their transfers completed in 1-3 days.

Combine Hyatt Points Digitally: ToP Thoughts

We’ve always appreciated that Hyatt allows you to combine points with other members regardless of family or household status. But the old process really left a lot to be desired. Manual submissions were slow. In our experience, they used to take anywhere from a day to a month. This morning, we tested the new system, and transfers were instant. The old 30-day limit on transferring points to or receiving points from another member has been replaced with a once-per-calendar-month limit on transferring points. The new terms also limit members to six transfers per calendar year. There are also annual caps: You can transfer up to 525,000 points and receive up to 525,000 points per year. While there are some trade-offs to the new system, the ability to combine Hyatt points digitally is a huge improvement. What are your thoughts on this change? Tell us over in the ToP Facebook group.
