Cancel Flying Blue Promo Awards

Flying blue promo awards just got more lucrative, or user friendly at least. In the award travel space, flexibility is paramount and equates to value. Being able to change or cancel your flight helps create value from your points and miles, since you can string together award bookings and pivot quickly if you decide to change your plans. Because of this, flexibility is always preferred and when we see an airline move to a more flexible approach, we think that is worth mentioning. Especially when it is a positive change, like being able to cancel Flying Blue promo awards.

What Has Changed With Flying Blue Promo Awards?

Flying Blue offers monthly promo awards, where they publish a list of city pairs that they offer a promotional, discounted award flight offering. Previously, these promo awards were very restrictive. No changes or cancellations were allowed on them. However, Flying Blue recently amended this policy and now allows changes or cancellations to Promo Rewards for a €70 fee plus fare difference. This is fantastic news and hopefully will help some of us book award travel in reassurance, knowing we have the flexibility if changes arise.

Can I Make Changes To My Reward Ticket?

Changes (flight and/or date) are possible before flight departure (check-in closure) for a €70 fee plus possible fare difference. Miles and tax/surcharges paid for the changed segment(s) will be reaccredited to the account holder and a new booking for the adjusted flight/date will be made (including re-payment for the tax/surcharges).

Refunds are also possible before flight departure (check-in closure) for a €70 fee. Miles will be reaccredited to the account holder in case of a cancellation.

Cancel Flying Blue Promo Awards: ToP Thoughts

It is great news that you can now cancel Flying Blue promo awards just like all other award flights with Flying Blue. Often times airlines will add restrictions to their promotions that block changing or canceling the flights. We are usually willing to take less flexibility in order to get a better deal / bigger discount. With this change we don't need to pick one or the other since we can now get the discount AND keep the flexibility with the Flying Blue promo award flights.
