Bilt Will Reverse Transfers

It has been a roller coaster week for some Bilt members. A few days ago many people received an email that their accounts were being shut down and their Bilt Rewards points would be forfeited. Naturally, that caused some people to transfer out every point they had in their account out of pure panic. That was true even if you think that you did nothing wrong and your account should be in good order. There is no time to waste when a situation like arises and sometimes a speculative transfer is the only option you have. Well, I have some good news for you, Bilt will reverse transfers if you did just that because of their email.

What Happened?

An account closure email was supposed to go out to a two accounts for nefarious activities, and a bad email filter occurred which cause it to be erroneously sent out to a lot of people. All accounts that were negatively affected should have received a correction / apology email already. You will also receive an apology bonus of 250 points for the trouble.

What If You Panic Transferred Your Bilt Rewards Points?

No harm, no foul overall and 250 bonus points if you did nothing because of the email. What if you had a near heart attack and moved points out to American Airlines before Bilt loses them, or to their new partner Alaska, before the correction email was sent out? I have some good news to share with you. If you would like to reverse the transfer it is possible according Richard Kerr of Bilt Rewards. This is a one time thing only though, and is in order to make their error right. Something Amex could learn from for sure.

Richard informed me that you just need to file a support ticket in your Bilt app about the transfer if this happened to you. Tell them that you would like the reverse the transfer that was made because of the email. Hopefully it can be corrected quickly, and without too much hassle for you. I am sure it could take a few days because they likely have a decent amount of requests.

Bilt Will Reverse Transfers: ToP Thoughts

While no one wants an erroneous email scare like that, at least you should be able to come away from it unscathed. Good on Bilt Rewards for being willing to reverse any panic points transfers because of their mistake. I also appreciate them offering up some apology points, even if it is a small amount.
