Amazon Pay With Points Offer
If you have been following along with the site for the last week or two then you know that I love myself a good Amazon pay with points offer. The best part is there are actually quite of a few of them too. They run these deals a few times per year, with a variety of credit cards and credit card points. Because of that I wanted to put together a lineup of all of the current pay with points offers that Amazon has. We will add to this list as new ones come out over time too.

What Is Pay With Points?
Amazon, like many retailers, lets you redeem some bank and credit card points towards the cost of your Amazon purchase. They love this, as do the banks, because the rates are usually worse than you would get elsewhere. Oftentimes, much worse actually. We are talking about getting less than 1 cent per point for some of these redemptions. That may have you wondering why I am writing about it then? That is because many of these banks run promotions to entice you to redeem points on Amazon. Think getting $80 off your purchase for redeeming $5 worth of points. Sometimes it only requires one single point or penny to cash in on the deal.
They do this so that you set up pay with points on your account and are tempted to use points in the future. They also hope that you don't notice you could paying for that entire promo charge with your points. Be careful out there, you will want to double check this when redeeming. You only want to use what you need to trigger the promotion.
When people redeem their points at checkout purchases like this it comes at a much lower cost to the banks versus you using the points for travel partners. It is often even worse than simply redeeming your points for straight cash. Look at the Prime Visa card for example. If you use your points earned at checkout, like they so often beg you to do, then you miss out on the 5%+ earning you would get by paying for your Amazon purchase with the card. You should redeem them as a statement credit at the same one cent per point instead. That gives you the same redemption, but you are earning extra cash back, or points, in the process.
