Co-Founders of Travel on Point(s)
Shortly after going on our first date, we booked a free trip (on US Airways!) to Minneapolis for the Fourth of July. Shortly thereafter, we became obsessed with collecting Southwest points to fly for free and using “the card without any blackout dates” as much as possible. Little did we know the vast world of points and miles that we were ignoring. Fast forward 4 years, to the fall of 2015, when we became serious about this hobby. By 2016, we collected almost 1 Million Points & Miles, stacked our portfolio with many keeper cards, and set ourselves up to earn the best perk in travel: the Southwest Companion Pass. In 2017, we refined our skills and booked multiple international business class trips all around the world, booked $31,000 in free travel and earned 1.1 Million Points & Miles. We continued the momentum in 2018, earning 1.2 Million Points & Miles, booking international first and business class flights, staying at the Park Hyatt Sydney for free, and finishing the year with $74,000 in free travel! As we begin this journey to help others realize their travel dreams, we’re on pace for 3 MILLION Points & Miles in 2019 and plan for over $100,000 in free travel in 2020. One. Hundred. Thousand. Dollars. For free! Follow us to learn how.
Meredith’s wanderlust started early—blame it on repeated viewings of The Sound of Music. While she has always had a knack for finding travel deals, a free trip to Hawaii in 2013 (flight with AA points, hotel that was already at a discounted price “erased” with Barclaycard Arrival Plus points) made her realize the incredible value of points and miles. Meredith has traveled to 32 countries (plus USVI, BVI, Hong Kong and the Holy See), 6 continents and 43 states, but her bucket list seems to grow daily. She is known for traveling at a sprint and values experiences over luxury. Inspired by nature, food and art, Meredith is the happiest in a food market, watching wildlife or on a hike with an epic view. When not traveling, Meredith works for an environmental nonprofit and spends her free time running and hiking with her two rescue pups.
Rick lives in the Seattle area. His love for travel started in the military and he began blogging about travel as The Saving Traveler in 2011. Rick jumped fully into points and miles in 2015.
When it comes to points and miles Rick focuses on maximizing spending, being creative with your spending, utilizing challenges and status matches, and new cards and sign up bonuses. His favorite travel destinations include the Czech Republic and any trip that involves sporting events. When Rick isn’t traveling or writing about it, he enjoys spending time with his kids (6&10) and works in Law Enforcement.
Shira began traveling as a child when her parents would load the family into the car and drive around the US. From there, her love of travel only grew when she completed a study abroad in Israel during high school followed by an opportunity to perform in England. Although Shira’s family has always used points and miles to travel (even her grandparents!!), she entered the points and miles world herself after friends moved to England and she wanted to figure out an affordable way to visit. Some of her favorite places she has visited include Porto, Sienna, and Ireland. When Shira is not traveling, she works as a pediatric occupational therapist in the school system and in her private feeding practice. You can also find her dancing, cooking & eating, and exploring wineries locally as well as around the world.
Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro and now based in Washington, DC, Brian uses his points and miles knowledge to fly in first or business class all over the world. His first redemption was flying to Thailand in business class. Brian likes redeeming points much more than earning them, and enjoys helping others to travel on points. Currently, Brian is working on visiting all 30 MLB ballparks. When not traveling on points, he enjoys watching baseball, going to heavy metal shows, and trying new bourbons.
