IHG Fall 2026 Promotion
A major hotel program is back with another promotion, and this one is a little more interesting than some of the recent offers we have seen from this brand. IHG One Rewards members can earn up to 3X points on stays through the end of 2026 with the IHG Fall 2026 Promotion. As always, the first thing you should do is register for the promotion, even if you do not currently have any IHG stays planned. Registration takes a few seconds, plans change, and free points are free points. However, this is definitely a promotion where you want to pay attention before smashing the “book” button, as there are some terms you should be aware of in advance.

Details of the Promotion
Registration for the IHG Fall 2026 promotion is open between September 17, 2026, and December 31, 2026. Remember that stays completed before you register won't count for the promotion. Once registered, IHG One Rewards members will earn:
- No bonus points on the first qualifying stay;
- 2X points beginning with the second qualifying stay when booked through an IHG-owned direct booking channel (i.e. no 3rd-party bookings);
- 3X points beginning with the second qualifying stay when booked through the IHG One Rewards app;
- bonus points on qualifying stays between October 1 and December 31, 2026;
- the bonus points are a 2X or 3X multiple of base points earned (i.e. a total of 20X or 30X total points per dollar spent); and
- no limit on the number of promotional bonus points that can be earned.

Terms & Conditions of the Promotion
There are a few important terms & conditions for the IHG Fall 2026 Promotion to keep in mind:
- Members must register before completing a qualifying stay.
- The first qualifying stay does not earn any promotional bonus points.
- Bonus earning begins with the member's second qualifying stay.
- Qualifying stays must occur between October 1 and December 31, 2026.
- A qualifying stay must be at least one night and cost more than $30 per night (or the local currency equivalent).
- Only paid qualifying stays count.
- Reward Nights and Points & Cash stays do not qualify.
- Reservations made through third-party sites such as Expedia and Booking.com do not qualify.
- Only one room per member per night can receive promotional credit.
- There is no cap on the number of promotional bonus points you can earn.
- Promotional bonus points do not count towards elite status earnings.
And remember, even the first stay needs to be booked directly through an eligible IHG channel for it to count as your first qualifying stay.
The IHG App Is the Way to Go
This is probably the most important part of the IHG Fall 2026 promotion: IHG is offering different earning rates depending on how you make the reservation. Beginning with your second qualifying stay, a reservation made through a standard IHG direct booking channel earns 2X points. However, a reservation made through the IHG One Rewards app on Android or iOS earns 3X points.
If you are booking a regular cash stay, there is very little reason to book through the IHG website instead of the app during this promotion. However, if you are booking an IHG stay via a luxury travel program (The Edit, FHR, etc.) or via a travel agent, the extra benefits, perks and credits more than offset the difference between earning 2X vs. 3X points for the stay.
In any event, stack your next IHG cash stay with a shopping portal, as you can book direct with IHG on either the website or mobile app.
What Does 2X or 3X Actually Mean?
Before getting too excited, it is important to understand what IHG means by “2X” or “3X points.” It does not mean that every point you normally earn from an IHG stay gets doubled or tripled. Instead, the promotion is based solely on the base points you would normally earn as an IHG One Rewards member. Any additional points you receive because of IHG elite status are calculated separately and aren't multiplied by this promotion.
For example, assume you have a qualifying $200 stay at an IHG property. That stay normally earns 10 base points per dollar. You would earn: 2,000 IHG base points plus any elite status bonus points.
Under the IHG Fall 2026 promotion, starting with your 2nd qualifying stay, if you book via the IHG website or via a luxury hotel program or travel agent, you would earn: 2,000 IHG base points, plus 2,000 bonus points, plus any elite status bonus points.
On the other hand, if you book via the IHG mobile app, you'd earn: 2,000 IHG base points, plus 4,000 bonus points, plus any elite status bonus points.
IHG Fall 2026 Promotion: ToP Thoughts
Overall, this is a pretty decent IHG promotion, especially if you have several paid IHG stays planned between October and the end of December. It's a bummer that there are no earnings on the first stay, and that is a significant limitation. If you have an expensive cash stay coming up, consider booking a cheap stay beforehand to earn 2X or 3X on the expensive stay. Just remember the $30/night minimum and that IHG points are usually worth 0.5 cents each or less.
